I'm new to the Ford Lightning and just purchased a Tesla adapter from Amazon. Then I read the Tesla app warning that the adapter must be from the Ford company. So, my 3rd party adapter is not to be used with Tesla charging. The adapter I purchased has a temperature guage that regulates electrical flow safely. I haven't used it yet. Does anyone else have any experience with this adapter? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DRJGZWQT?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

Looks like a cheap Chinese knockoff. Cancel the sale if you can, or return it when it arrives.

Buy the Ford adapter, the A2Z adapter (a2zev.com), or the Lectron brand adapter on Amazon.

The A2Z and Lectron also have adapters for Level 2 (NACS to J1772) that are cheaper if you purchase both at the same time.

As mentioned that looks like a cheap Chinese knockoff, I wouldn't trust it, here's a link to the Lectron version

+1 on A2Z. Have both the Typhoon Pro and stellar adapters and both work flawlessly on both the truck and the wife's Q6. Don't risk your truck with knock off adapters. Saving a few bucks now might cost you way more later.

Thanks for the information. I won't use the knockoff, but its too late to send back.

In that case, get a good adapter, and keep the knockoff adapter as an emergency spare.
As previously said, I have and recommend the A2Zev.com adapters - links and discount code in post #5.

Slightly off topic, but not by much. Has anyone tried this "EVDance" level 2 NACS to CCS adapter? Considering it, as I expect to acquire a level 2 extension cord from the same source, perhaps in the same transaction:

https://www.evdances.com/collection...-to-j1772-charging-adapter-with-security-lock

Expect the choice is less critical than with a level 3/ DCFC adapter, due to lower current flow, but any available first hand feedback on this product would be much appreciated.

A2Z's extension cord is rated for 48amps, and is $179 before discount. Stellar adapter is $129. Total of $308, less 10% with code FORDFORUM = $277.20

EVDance cord for 50amps is $239.95. Adapter is a tad cheaper. Products aren't of the same quality.

My wife and I each use the A2Z adapters for our Tesla wall chargers and I use the A2Z super charger adapter for over a year now. Both are high quality and never had an issue.

I have an EVDance J1772 extension cord. 40 amps I think. It's been fine the times I've used it, when something is in the way and I can't get close enough to my regular charging spot. I actually got it expecting ICE or other parking issues at L2 chargers on the road but it turn out I almost never do L2 charging on the road lol. Careful with "better" chargers - the older Lightnings cannot adjust charging speed and some models will attempt to pull up to 80 amps if the EVSE says it can supply it, regardless of the weak link 40 amp cord in the middle. That could get spicy :)

The brand has been around a while, so maybe they will put a little more effort in than some random alphabet soup Chinese brands? Who knows.

Come to think of it my NACS-J1772 adapter is EVDance too. It has also been fine the few times I've used it. Mainly to try out my Tesla UMC charging setup. I went that way for maximum versatility on both the plug in (dongle) end and the vehicle end.
