I’m not sure if this constitutes hijacking the thread, but I’m curious to know if there’s a consensus on which rotary shifter to purchase (or avoid). I’ve skimmed through a few threads, and it appears that some may not work well with features like auto hold.

The first post of this thread used this shifter: LX6P-7P155-HE
20 21 22 Escape Bronco sport automatic shifter gear selector. It's no longer available from the original eBay link, but should still be available from other sources on and off of eBay.

Has anyone done the rotary shifter mod on a 2025? Do the 25's have an encrypted can-bus or still the same as the 24's?

The Comma 3x guys are able to tap into Can Bus on 2025s without issues. So I would guess same with GSM. But not 100% sure.

Someone just asked the same question on FB and someone with a 25 responded that they did the mod successfully so looks like the 25’s are still open can-bus and not encrypted.

I am about to try this on my 25 Lightning Lariat. I have a Comma 3x running Bluepilot and can confirm that the 25's are not encrypted (Tron). The only thing I'm worried about is pulling this trim off without breaking it :) .

Checkout the video and the comments I made earlier in the thread. It’s not bad. Just take your time and watch the front of the surface trim pins.

Another conversion complete!

What rotary shift part number did you order? I want to do the conversion to my 2022 Platinum, but am seeing people using ALL kinds of different rotary shifters when the original route I was told to go was the Ford Escape. I really like the look of the blue glow and the ambient blue ring at the bottom. I feel like the color matches the interior lighting pretty well. I also am not sure that I want a dial that shifts into park when I open my driver's side door. Sorry to ask you this out of the blue, but I am hoping for a nudge in the right direction. I like the look of your conversion, it is very clean! Thanks!

All of them will shift into park when you open the door, that is by design, changing shifters doesn't alter that. The difference is does it do it by rotating the knob (still another motor to break) or is it all electronically inside the shifter knowing which letter to illuminate.

Apologies. I misunderstood how the motorized version worked. Thank you for explaining that. It makes perfect sense that it would do that as it poses a liability to Ford if it didn't...especially in today's day and age.

2022 Ford F150 Lightning Lariat extended range
I absolutely LOVE the final result of the rotary shift conversion in my 24 Lariat! I've seen a few different variations of this mod including cutting a hole in the dash and mounting it next to the steering wheel. I was planning on going that route but had trouble building the wiring harness. At the end of the day I'm glad I did because what I have now looks like just as OE as the dash mount, I still gain use of the workspace when in gear, the truck could be put back to original quickly and easily, the install literally too less than 20 minutes!! The first photo of the knob installed is in the raw finish how it arrives to you. I ended up hitting mine with a few coats of filler primer, doing a little sanding, and a final coat of trim black just to help it "blend in" a little. But I'm OCD like that. It totally looks good enough to run as-is.
