I also did go and pick up 2 brand new usb c 3.2 gen 2 cables to make sure it wasn’t them
you have got to slow down, stop trying combinations. Do one thing at a time and tell us what happens. I know you might be trying not to bug us but you are actually making it harder to help you.

Q4 harness —> harness box —> cable a —> C3X

Q4 harness —> harness box —> cable b —> C3X

we need to find two good cables before we can worry about couplers.

let us know if either of those turn on and drive around with no errors. I know those cables are probably too short to reach the windshield, just set the comma in your lap. We don’t care about driving with OpenPilot, we care about finding the bad cabling component.

I’ve been sitting on the comma trying to find time to install it, but got around to installing it today and I’m getting stuck on unavailable.

Apologizes, i thought the pictures attached.

Additional Notes: I have tried it under OpenPilot and BluePilot and get the same error.

Are you getting dashcam mode? Or an error?

Noted, apologies.

I have tried exactly what you asked.

Q4 harness (1) —> harness box 1 —> cable a —> C3X
Q4 harness (1) —> harness box 1 —> cable b —> C3X
Q4 harness (1) —> harness box 1 —> cable —> C3X

Q4 harness (2) —> harness box 2 —> cable a —> C3X
Q4 harness (2) —> harness box 2 —> cable b —> C3X
Q4 harness (2) —> harness box 2 —> cable c —> C3X

all still had the same error.

is it possible I’m plugging it in to the wrong place? I did the same plug as was in the video.
Pictures for reference.

You are plugged in correctly, the black port (2nd from bottom) on the IPMA. I am blown away that you have two harnessess and multiple cables and can't solve the issue. It is possible you have a C3X with a bad USB port, it has happened once before.

If your have plenty of limit on your credit card, I would just order a new C3X and see if the issue is sovled. If it is do a return on the bad one, they have a pretty easy 30 day return policy (just cost $10 in shipping, it's worth $10 not to deal with the warranty department). If you don't want to order a second one for testing, then we can try to find someone close to you that you could connect theirs to your truck (and yours in their truck).

Are you sure your spare cables are USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 ? Do you have a link for them?

Noted, given how much i've read about said interaction I think i'll do just that. I was wondering the same thing but I didn't know the frequency or likelihood so didn't want to assume it would/would be on the device connection end

3.2 gen 2 is not the same
usually a cable that doesn’t meet spec will refuse to go on road, not give errors. but a known working cable from Amazon is a cheap and quick check. At least cheaper and quicker than a new C3X from Comma in Cali.

I have gotten that error plenty of times while testing. Specifically when I removed the extra super speed pairs.

sorry i should have been specific, yes they are the 2x2, and have the dual lane 10g up and down; also, one did intermittently work for like 30 minutes so it would be strange to be able to function and then stop if it was not the correct type.

Then I would agree that the comma seems to be defective. You can always try your thunderbolt cables for good measure. They should operate the same, as they are the same as 3.2 gen 2x2 internally (In this use anyways).

Edit - Disregard the TB suggestion, I see that you already tried that earlier on.
