2024 F-150 Lightning Flash with Pro Power
If you are not familiar with him. He does a lot of reviews on Toyotas. He is typically very in depth on the mechanicals and knowledgable regarding servicing etc. Pretty overall positive take. Makes me feel good about my recent purchase of a 2024 Flash.

Agreed, it was a pretty positive review, especially for that guy, who tends to be pretty critical (which I like and appreciate). Actually I thought it was so positive that I was surprised at the end that he really didn't recommend the truck ... I think maybe he doesn't like EVs so much.

Our other vehicle is a Toyota Highlander so I’ve seen his videos before. They’re usually very good and he is truly a master mechanic.

I was surprised too of his final recommendation. Maybe a little job insecurity due to his background. I think you can come to your own conclusion based on the remainder of the video.

I have to say, I’ve seen more…comprehensive reviews. One example - he folded the shifter down, but didn’t flip the workspace platform over to show why you would fold the shifter down. His gripe about the tailgate…I get it, but he also failed to mention that higher trims have power tailgates. Lastly, for his emphasis that the Flash is a work truck, he didn’t talk about things like the exterior lighting system, cleats in the bed, ports for rack systems, towing capacity, etc. 🤷🏻

Definitely not his strong suit in doing a review of the actual features of the truck. But his explanation of the cooling systems and mechanicals is more in depth than most. Makes me feel good about my 2024 Flash purchase with the damped tailgate, fold out workspace, keypad, locking differential and larger battery. The 2025 Flash trim doesn't have the fold out workspace so he couldn't demonstrate it.

And, he criticized the tailgate, but didn’t mention that some models do have a power tailgate.

Mechanic myself, 40+ years and I agree with all of that except the electric part, he's not into it as he stated, I am, if it has a warning light attached, controls the climate, or anything electrical, it found its way to my stall for repair.

Overall, good review! I agree with everything that has been said prior to this post. One thing I thought was pretty funny was when he opened the 12V battery compartment and said the smallest battery in the biggest truck LMAO😂🤣😂
Many of his complaints about it are things they have removed as the years have gone by!

Nice of him to get a little geeky with the cooling and heat-pump systems, hopefully what he mentioned are accurate, I've been longing for a deep review of the system, not seen anything from Munro & Associates or others just yet.

while he does a fair job in assessing most of the mechanics of the LIGHTNING, it's true that those who 'review' vehicles are subject to not only their own assumed internal biases as to 'what' version is 'best'... but they also have rarely, if ever, compared two vehicles side-by-side on a day-in day-out real-world usage scenario, especially over a long-term period... doing the same exact thing with both, at the same time, in the same environment, with all the same conditions...

so, while he might want to compare a LIGHTNING with a 'regular' Ford F150 work truck, of similar trim level, comparing the elements and workability of a gas vehicle versus an electric one is very difficult... without DOING the comparison side-by-side in all, otherwise, same conditions...

he might be surprised if he did...

yes, with Ford and others having multiple 'tiers', or 'trim levels', of the same truck, with various different included options, such as the tailgate 'slam' shock he mentioned, is easy for reviewers to get off track when mentioning 'negatives' in their review... one might review the upper trim level of one model from one manufacturer, with all the bells and whistles, and yet review a lower trim level of another, which, for cost reasons, does not have the same level of options, of course...

I think he'd be best to review the 'meat' of the truck, instead of whether it has a tailgate shock, or not... those are not parts or options of the truck that make it what it is... it's the BUILD of the truck, itself, the BONES, that make it a Ford F150 Supercrew WORK truck...

Only thing I fear is corrosion. Ford Tech Makuloco on YouTube has shown several late model F-150 trucks with extreme corrosion in the undercarriage. Apparently F-150 doesn't get the same e-treatment on the frame and chassis that F-250 gets and that's a real shame. I will have to wash the hell out of this truck all winter.

Slightly off topic, but I was hauling some stuff on Sunday and left the tail gate open and start driving up the hill to load more and the truck closed the tail gate automatically! I didn't realize that was a thing...It didn't hurt anything, but I was surprised that when I was at the top of the hill, I had to open the gate again.

Is the Lightning frame and underbody more corrosion protected than a regular F150?

The powered tailgate will raise up and close if you give it a little bump up and let go, so wonder if that happened as you were driving and caused it to close?? I don't know if the "bump to lift" feature is turned off when you are driving. I've never had to use it, but I've got a snap-in tailgate bar (Ride88 Tailgate Boss) that keeps it flat and locked down when open and that might have helped in your situation. You can also turn off the powered tailgate and set it to manual
