I have to say, the latest update that added the Tesla chargers as well as allowing you to set your preferred charging stations has made a huge difference for me. I honestly can’t see a reason to use any other navigation app. Does anyone else feel the same about the update?

I've seen a few recent posts and accolades for the Ford navigation, so maybe it has improved. I guess if I did a lot of traveling I'd pay up again for connectivity and use it for backup or primary if it could prove its worth. My experience with it the first 3 years with the truck was pathetic. Trying to get it to find locations or chargers, especially by voice is just bad. Hard for me to find a need to go back vs Apple, or Google, etc. Preconditioning is the only benefit you might get, but regardless of temperature (from 20 to 100 outside) any time I've used a high speed charger I get almost identical charging speeds, nothing more, nothing less. There is nothing I need from Ford.

I always liked the Ford NAV and now I like it even more.

The only good thing about ford navigation is that it uses multitouch to pinch zoom.
I’m being kind. Beyond that it’s junk.
Chacun a son gout. However, with a little exploring to learn its capabilities, Ford NAV is pretty decent.

It seems to me that many folks these days, especially those of us with a smartphone always in hand, haven't played with Ford NAV for long enough to learn its strengths.

It's a free world... and the NAV is definitely not a Google or Apple screen... yet it has good features and I have preferred to use it on the Lightning and on my previous Ford.

As I said in a different thread a few days ago, I have played very little with the Ford Nav. However I poked at it for a while 5 days ago. The display of Tesla chargers was a joke. Only one of the five nearby Tesla SC locations showed at all. The one E.A. station did but the EVGo did not. Note that Android Auto is not much better. Some show, some do not. If I need to know where DCFC stations are, either use that network app, or PlugShare. Also the Ford app on the phone seems to be quite good.

The lack of NACS routing for <2024 models is why I can’t and won’t use the built in nav. I want to use it, and am even willing to pay the subscription when it comes due, but not if Ford has seemingly abandoned users of vehicles below 2024 which they seemed to have done here with this latest update. For someone who prefers NACS superchargers for the myriad of road trips I take, this seems like a great update, especially since it kind of solves a long standing problem of plugging in and going into some place for a bio break and not remembering what percentage you need to charge to. This will allow you to just look at the Fordpass app and see that real time, something not possible with CarPlay apps because of the need for your phone to be in the truck.

I wish Ford would release this for their fleet but alas they are doing the whole ignore your foundation customers thing. Hope I am proven wrong though.

Bring me this update (2022) and I'll reevaluate, but I generally like Google Maps, since it tends to seize the moment when I boot-up the truck, I'm charging 99% at home so navigation to DCFC's is less of a priority, and when I resume trailer hauling my race bike next summer to New England Dragway, the places I intend to charge at are established.

If I make a long distance hauling trip to Rockingham NC "The Rock", then it might become useful!

Who's got a j3400 port?

All Tesla superchargers are j3400(nacs)

Uh, ya, it's always worked like that for the rest of us.
Maybe you’re missing the point of my post. We gained NACS Superchargers access a long time ago. Up until a few weeks ago, all anyone could do was rely on a half-baked CarPlay/Android Auto integration to navigate long multi-stop trips where NACS Superchargers were exclusively used (The only choice of charging in some places like parts of WV). Ford released the NACS routing update with a new APIM update to the 2024+ models. Those of us with 2023 and below were left out.

Sure I can do what I said was a key part of this update now if I go to just Electrify America stops, but the reliability there has not been the best and on some of my routes, NACS Superchargers are the only option.

I believe 2022 - 2023 will soon get the update.

Ah, I see now. I've always used android auto and preplan my trips, Ford nav is of little consequence.
Android Auto is the best solution to the problem in the absence if true built in NACS routing. It is one of the few solutions that has preconditioning. Sadly I am on iOS so I have a nerfed integration that works okay but is not as good as the Android Auto integration.

I'm glad to hear that the built-in navigation is continuing to get better. I use Apple CarPlay exclusively, so I'll never use the built-in navigation. Up until about a year ago I'd use it to precondition the battery while still using CarPlay for navigation. Now one cancels out the other so I can't use them simultaneously. That's super annoying.

I really wish Ford would incorporate preconditioning into CarPlay and Android Auto.
