Walk Away Lock is Rolling Out to 2022-2023 F-150 Lightning

Okay, I first thought it didn't work... BUT IT DOES!!!!

BUT there is NO horn alert, even though I have audible feedback on and I get NO app notification.

Double check the Ford App, notification categories, this is what the screen looks like in Android.
I also customized the tone given when the lock event occurs.

We used to be able to help people do this easily, but thanks to Ford's awesome new cybersecurity system, all you can do is pray to the OTA gods and hope they shine their light upon thee.

Or beg the dealer to do it and hope they do.

Do we need to face a certain direction when we are praying or point our vehicles in a certain direction

I probably screwed myself because I updated everything back in July including the frunk update via FDRS. The only thing I couldn't update was the BCM. Been Crickets for me on OTA's since then.

I did the exact same. I DID get BC 1.4 a month later in August, but nothing since.

Glad you brought that up. I think it may be help to point the nose of the truck towards Dearborn, MI.

The other more detailed screens are accessed by, holding your finger on the app icon on your phone screen until you see the following pane at least on {Android}, then select the (i) in the upper right corner, then you'll get a list of settings for the app core, within notifications you can drill deeper into preferences, conditions and actions inside "Notification Categories"

You're not going to get an app notification unless your truck has Phone As A Key. Walk away lock for non-PAAK trims is based on the key fob and likely has nothing to do with the Ford app. The vehicle horn is the notification, in my personal XLT experience.

How about in a situation where that OTA update comes with a BCM update, but if I did all of the other parts of the update VIA FDRS....So say the Frunk update come with it and I do it via FRDS, so that update never comes to me via OTA right?

If you update with FDRS, it is still possible that you can an OTA for a module you already updated. In that case, the OTA will fail because the software is already installed.

Thank you. That was my first picture results... That's all us xlt folks get. LOL

We have a simple widgets with SOC, time and GOM, and the options to start climate, lock and unlock.

Makes sense, thanks... And the horn doesn't go off with WAL because that is considered a single lock event, not a triggered double locking event within 3 seconds to confirm it has been locked.

It is pretty fast at locking as I walk away and the lights flash upon locking.

I just checked and I finally have my WAL buttons as well . I don't know when that happened but it is working. Now if i can get BC 1.4 for christmas I'll be happy

Will 2023 XLTs get WAL and/ or PAAK? I am still waiting but maybe does not roll out to poor man lightnings.

If you go back to posts #63 to #68, you will see that I had added the WAL toggles via ForSCAN, but was unable to update the BCM via FDRS because of the need for a password that only Ford certified techs have.

Yesterday, I had my Lariat SR in for service via the dealer's valet, who picks up and returns the vehicle.

I requested the dealer to perform these items:

1. Park Module recall
2. Trailer module recall
3. 10,000 mile service (rotate tires)
4. NYS annual inspection.
5. Activate WAL via BCM update

In the afternoon, I could see my vehicle location was outside the dealership via the app. The service manager called a short time later to tell me my vehicle was ready and ask if I wanted to use reward points for payment. I said I did want to use the points and also asked if they were able to update the BCM module to activate WAL. He said, "I'll see what I can do."

About 20 minutes later, I could see in the app my vehicle was back inside the building. Soon after, I received a text message that the valet was driving my vehicle back to me.

Later that afternoon, when I exited my vehicle with the fob in my pocket, the horn honked, the mirrors folded in, and the doors locked.

I looked at the invoice and it had no mention of updating the BCM. No associated labor or charge.

My entire bill was for $28.14, which included $16.95 for the tire rotation, $10 for the NYS inspection, and $1.19 sales tax.
