I was in a similar situation as you with a different vehicle waiting for a part. Also, just like you, on the day of signing the papers for the lemon law/buyback, the part I was waiting for magically appeared after a 3 month wait. I’m guessing it’s probably more mundane than that. I’m guessing dealer stock av may not be immediately available to other dealers but someone at Ford might have universal access and someone needs to escalate a request to make a search and transfer happen.

It says much about a company that offers a buyback that can be fixed with a $100 part that the company then supplies.
Slightly OT here, but I had the privledge of visiting and speaking at CERN in Switzerland (where the Large Hadron Collider is). I got the "behind the scenes tour" which included a giant titanium (yes, titanium!) 3D printer. They had a handful of small knick-knacks 3D printed off the thing and they were feather-light. Just crazy how accurate the printer is. They use it to build parts for the LHC.
As well as the wizards watching from behind the curtain facilitating some of the more technical issues !!
