Public Service Announcement: Make sure your dealer has the actual software update needed for your particular Lightning.

I received two letters from Ford regarding "Compliance Recall Notice 25C69 /NHTSA Recall 25V863" concerning the Integrated Park Module (IPM).

I scheduled my appointment with my local dealer, O'Brien Ford in Shelbyville, KY, and showed up for it yesterday. After waiting for the service to be completed, I was told that during the updating process, they discovered they didn't have the needed software update for my 2024 Lightning.

This situation was a double failure--Ford's letter stated (In bold-underlined fashion), "Software is available to repair your vehicle." So, Ford was wrong in saying that. The second failure was the dealer's service department who made the appointment knowing that it for the recall fix, but didn't check to see if they had the needed software--for my Lightning's build date. The service department rep said something to the effect of "Sorry, but Ford sends out the updates based on the build date of the vehicle." I mentioned that Ford knows my build date and VIN (stated in their letter) to which I received another explanation and apology.

Hope this helps you from making a wasted trip.

Had the same issue a month ago - 2022 & 2023 LER's as well as the wife's 2024 Mach-e. Dealer was going to send over mobile service & call the morning of the appointment to notify us they didn't have the fix available.

I haven't checked. I swallowed the lure of the Ford letter. I'll take a look to see though. Thank you!

My dealer called and cancelled appointment. He said that Ford had put a hold on the update and that they will be coming out with a new one in the future (actually said by the end of this month.)

Went back for that appointment and after about an hour was told that Ford put a "stop-service" on the recall as they didn't have the update (or it was pulled back?) Was told I would receive another letter eventually and it would be about an 8-hour job.

Less than a month later, received a new letter. This time, I was able to do a mobile service and it was done within 30 minutes.

Ford seems to be all over the map on this recall. This doesn't breed confidence.

I usually set the parking brake--even on level surfaces, so I'm not sure the issue would ever be a thing I'd notice. It's just a little disconcerting that Ford is floundering a bit on this. 😳

I was waiting for notification (other than first letter) and then got a call from my local dealer to have recall fix done as mobile service. Technician arrived and started process, then knocked on door after 10 min and said "oops, dispatcher messed up - we don't have the fix yet". At least I didn't need to make a service center appt and waste hours!

I got a call from my dealer here in VA Beach. Scheduled for mobile service to be done the same week. Spent about 45 minutes, topped up the washer fluid also. No problems here!

I got a call from my dealer here in VA Beach. Scheduled for mobile service to be done the same week. Spent about 45 minutes, topped up the washer fluid also. No problems here!
