Anyone out there experienced 110 charging errors “only” - if so, what were dealer fixes?

I’m on a trip visiting/staying with family, and 110 receptacle only option in their garage. Left it plugged in for about 30 hours, everything hunky-dory. Went for a few drives out and about the other day, got back, plugged in again to flashing red rings on the truck.

The next day, I went to both J1772 L2 AC and CCS DC fast chargers to make sure the truck was not a problem, and to be sure I’m good for fast charging on the trip home (soon). Both charging tests were successful.

I’m using a Tesla mobile charger and J1772 adapter. I took the charger across the street to a neighbor’s Y and verified 110 is good…and bought another NACS to J1772. Both adapters are still red ring flashing on truck.

Which leads me to the truck…I had assumed if the on-board AC port was bad, the Level 2 test would have failed. Is there a separate 110 vs 220 portion in the truck? I always assumed it was AC vs DC only, when it came to the internal charging components. Of course my ‘23 truck has the dual onboards (80 amp capable).

Anyone else seen this before?

Did you try your neighbours outlet on your evse/truck? Could be an issue with your outlet.

I would also try clearing all the charge locations in the truck, drive around the block to recenter the gps and retrying a charge.

since it provided power the first time, the outlet doesn't seem to be the problem, unless the breaker has tripped

one option, like with computers, though, is to 'reboot', and see if that resolves any internal issues:

remove the negative post of the front 12v battery for a few minutes...

Good points. I didn’t try plugging in at guys house, but there are no error lights on the Tesla charger and certain it’s fine.

I had not completed a charging session yet and not seeing a location in the menu (I had it set at 95% for the road trip and only got to 70% after the 30 hours).

Another good point. I removed -terminal from LVB for 20 minutes the night before I went and tested the L2/L3 chargers.

As I recall, the Tesla mobile charger is similar to the Ford version in that on the AC inlet side there are adapters for the various AC plug types. A common problem on the Ford mobile charger is that if that adapter pigtail is not FULLY seated, it will fail exactly as you describe. I've had that happen (also on 120 volts). Unplug and reset that adapter pigtail and make sure it is FULLY seated.

Thanks, also did the inlet adapter reseat a couple of times. The Tesla indicator is the boot led process for confirmation, if the inlet adapter is not good at start, the ready lights are not present.

When I bought my used truck, unfortunately, the original owner had not placed the 110v adapter in the charging bag.

When using that portable charger make sure you turn down the charging current to 17a since that's the most you can get away with on a 20a circuit.

That option is only available on MY 2025. The earlier trucks don't have that option.

That also depends on what adapter you are using. The only 240V that comes with the Ford mobile charge cord is for a 50 amp outlet. I recall seeing on the Tesla site that they have more options available, but when I just looked, the Tesla mobile connector also comes with the same two that the Ford comes with - NEMA 5-15 and NEMA 14-50. I did not see any other options.

Ic said the blind man, as far as the 240 goes, I bought a Nema 50 to Nema 30 adapter so I can use my dryer outlet. That was before I had the 80a fcsp installed.

Although I didn’t bring with me, we own that assortment set as well, but keep it in my wife’s Y for road trips.

Thanks! I knew I had seen it, but could not find it under charging options. What would be cool is if that adapter bundle also works on the Ford mobile charge cord. The connector (from what you can see on the website) appears to be the same.... No idea if it's wired and configured the same.

Tell me about it...thats why I brought the Tesla 110 with me as finding one for the Ford is pretty expensive (at least compared to just buying a new entire mobile charging set). I also read that the same makers of the ford unit make other brands/OEMs but reading indicates possible compatibly issues.

They are very similar in design but of course the exact dimenstions are not interchangeable.
