I’m sure there’s many of you that have turned off/not renewed blue cruise once you realized if you need it occasionally it might be better to pay for a month than having a recurring charge for something that you don’t use or can’t use. That being said I felt that the 50 bucks a month on something I might use once in the same time period was a little rich for me to justify.

No I’m not one of the ones who gets the free blue cruise because of early adoption, so that’s out and if anyone knows of something coming down where they may offer it to everyone at no or low charge due to the limited run, please pass that along. In short l, it doesn’t work well, my explorer doesn’t have it but has everything else minus the monthly fee and does as good as the lightning with it running.

I certainly hope that the lighting doesn’t go the way of the delorean or packard or whatever car floats your boat to compare how the manufacturer ever so loudly stopped supporting it and making it impossible to continue ownership. Maybe Brian (not ai) from Ford can pass this along to the corporate personnel as real feedback because apparently all that gets passed along is this silent majority of people who want to pay more for less, whether that’s less value, less quality or less F’s to give from Ford. I figure I may get better and more realistic results by scheduling an exploratory prostate exam because at least I’d get what I asked for.

Here's my 2 cents on BC. Once the 3 month trial ended after I bought the truck, I let it expire. I did pay for a month (with rewards points) last October when I had two trips where I did benefit from it. Between initial 3 months and October, BC updated to 1.4 and it did work better. I will likely pay for a month in March when I will doing about a 1,000 mile trip to Tucson, and again in August when I will do a almost 3,000 mile trip to Colorado. It does take some of the stress off a long drive, but I don't fully trust it. Without the subscription, I do use the Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centering from time to time when it makes sense.

I got three years free and it will run out this fall. I have and will never use it. a crazy idea that scares the hell out of me that there are people on the road trusting a computer with my life.

If you’re not regularly doing highway miles, BC is not a useful feature vs standard lane centering adaptive cruise control. Personally, I hate the steering wheel torque requirement for nonBC enough to pay for BC. The Ford system is less intrusive than Tesla AP nag but it’s enough that I tend to disable lane centering when in cruise control without BC. (Which you can’t easily do on the Tesla while driving)

Blue Cruise is great. I use it both directions every time I go to work. I'll see how much I miss it when it expires this spring. I can't see spending more on BlueCruise than I do on my phone though.

I have one of those rare XLT 312As, which has the radar module for ACC and Lane Centering, but not BC. I use it on every drive, including on low speed two-lane roads. Yes, in some conditions it works intermittently, but on the whole, especially on the highway, it’s great. I agree with you about the steering torque nanny - why, Ford, does it have to require so much torque input, and so often?? I find myself randomly flicking the wheel just to keep it happy. My other car is a new Tesla M3 with FSD; in a perfect world, I’d have FSD in the smooth quiet (and spacious!) comfort of my Lightning. I just can’t agree with those who prefer driving as their grandparents did, over ADAS like Lane Centering, or BC or FSD. But I can also remember the naysayers, back when cruise control first went mainstream.

I think you’re being way over dramatic here. BC really makes sure you’re looking at the road and paying attention. I’m not trusting shit. I’m still sitting right in front of the wheel. My hands are right there to take over if needed. It’s not like I climb in The back seat to take a nap. I’ve done thousands of miles with BC taking trips across the country and I’d say there has only been a small handful of times I’ve ever had to grab the wheel and I did just that. Put my hands on the wheel and all was well.

I just got a Cyberbeast Cybertruck loaner... (My Model 3 is getting the battery replaced)(2020 under Warranty), And I pay for Bluecruise in my Lightning, I also pay for FSD in my Model 3, but this FSD is what Bluecruise should have been. I'm thinking of not renewing this year, Bluecruise is okay for a quick bite of a burger or fast food trip but it cuts in and out way too much to be reliable. I love the ROOM in the Lightning, but LOVE the way the Cybertruck drives. KW/Mile is also better in the Beast by quite a bit. It's certianly more expensive to insure as well. I like that with the Lightning I don't have to worry about the liberal folks spiting, scratching or peeing on my truck. So there is also that. and Yes it's UGLY! It's also 845 hp vs 540 hp.

BC is interesting but out here on the coast where roads are winding and freeways hours away it isn’t for me. I’ve a lot more to worry about like elk, deer, trees, mudslides, tailgating RV drivers in a hurry to chill, failing culverts that undercut pavement during rain events, and etc.

I remember having cruise control on wile driving home from Iowa to Illinois in the 90's and seeing a car down the road, looking away to change my cassette, and then looking back up in terror seeing that I was about to rear end the vehicle going slow on the interstate. Modern day BC and other adaptive cruise and driving systems help to prevent things like that from happening. And I find that with the adaptive cruise on, BC or otherwise, I get less angry with folks driving slower than I want to because I don't have to think about slowing down. And if I want to I can speed up, change lanes, pass, and whatever else I want to because I still control the vehicle. These systems are important safety features and decrease the stress on this driver.

Is BC worth $50 a month for my daily driving? Probably not. Are the systems a nuisance? Depends on your perspective. Can/do they decrease stress on the drivers and decrease chances for accidents? I believe so. Are they taking over the world and making me do things I don't want to do? Nope. It is a tool. You can choose to use it.

I had BlueCruise (up to 1.2 eventually) on my 2022 Mach E. I don't have it on my XLT 312A, by my choice because after living through cold Winters with the Mach E's panoramic glass roof, I refused to buy another EV with a glass roof, and all Lightnings with solid roofs also lacked BlueCruise.

I did use BlueCruise on the Mach E. Now, for the past 89k miles on the XLT, I don't miss it... not with all the other safety systems on my XLT which are close to 80% or so of BlueCruise's full functionality. I certainly would not pay for it after the free trial period.

In my eyes, having used it for many thousands of miles on the Mach E, BlueCruise is a "nice, interesting, not a critically necessary" feature.
