Is anyone specifically going after Comma4 for the Lightning. I have put off and put off Comma3 specifically because I don't like the screen up by my mirror, now this one has a minimal screen I think I'll be ok with mounting it up there. Is anyone on top of pioneering this for the Lightning.

Last I heard the guy responsible for BluePilot on the Fords was getting a 4 and going to work on porting it. There isn't a lightning specific developer. I'd rather have the larger screen for adjusting things on the fly but there's a new portal in BP 5.0 that allows you to modify the settings on the Comma so that will make adjusting things on the Comma 4 a lot easier. Shame the 4 still has the same mediocre hardware though.

@LSUT1GER , check out the main Comma thread starting here for Comma 4 info.

I have a fairly new 3x that I have driven almost 20k miles with. I absolutely love it! Comma has a trade in program and like you I would prefer the smaller screen. The link above is the beginning of the Comma 4 chatter in the main Comma thread. I may be tempted to trade in my 3x once the BluePilot developers refine the BluePilot UI to work on the 4. OpenPilot (the "stock" software) is almost unusable compared to BluePilot. Once BP is able to run on a Comma 4, I'll have to find some money to upgrade.

F-150 Lightning Lariat
Newbie question. Is there a page/summary for how-to on getting Comma.ai working on the F-150 lightning? I've been looking around the forum and see a lot of discussion, but things have evolved over time so I'm unclear on current steps (i.e, still need to splice our own cables?).

Looking at purchasing the Comma 4 for my 2025 F-150 Lariat. From what I understand, what I need is:
  1. Buy - Comma AI ($999) from comma.ai with the Q4 Ford harness.
  2. Buy - Bluepilot Coupler ($55) from bluepilot.dev
  3. (maybe) Buy - Long USB 3.2 2x3 cable
  4. Install Coupler, cable, comma.ai, following instructions here: https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/thr...rd-specific-fork-for-comma3x-openpilot.24241/
  5. Wait for update to BluePilot to support Comma 4.
  6. Once done; install BluePilot 5.0 + (some?) Model
  7. Go driving...?
Thanks in advance!

Your 7 steps look accurate. For #3, the USB cables that you need should be included with the Comma and Q4 harness.

Everything Comma related to the Lightning is here:

Since it is all open source, there is no one repository with all of the information. The BluePilot dev page is a good start, but there is also BluePilot info on the ICE F150 forum, Mach-e forum, Discord, SunnyPilot forum and webpage, comma.ai page, ad nauseum.... It's spread seemingly across the entire interwebs. The Lightning forum Comma/BluePilot post will give you the most pertinent info IMHO.

Yes, it's a long read that goes through all of the troubleshooting and side conversations that took place to get it to work, but it's a worthwhile read to understand what's going on. The early posts set the stage for the later posts.

The coupler with resistor replaced the custom harness, so no splicing needed.

Some people have issues with the stock cable, but I'd install everything before buying a new one, make sure everything is fully seated and if it doesn't work, flip the cable, for whatever reason flipping it at the comma did nothing for me but flipping at the harness solved the issue, just something to keep in mind.
