Curious why some do not use 1 pedal driving.

Talking about a scenario where you have to brake more than you thought and more than regen can provide. Suddenly you run out.
I've used regen for years now, I have had a decent number of scenarios where I thought I could regen to stop, but it wasn't enough for whatever reason. As soon as you let completely off the throttle it brakes at max regen and idk about you but I instinctively know whether that is enough or not enough brake power to stop me in time. The same way that if you press on the brake to stop you know whether or not you need to press it to the floor or not. I have not once lifted off and sat there only to go "oh crap, it won't stop in time."

When you provide facts instead of you yourself just claiming you have, then we can get somewhere. Continuing to claim so just shows how weak your arguments are.

" “regenerative braking” is what I said when I called in “drag”, in order to simply and describe the feeling users experience."

This is trigonometry, put the coloring books away.
Funny. You are about as correct in this debate as you are funny.

Facts are presented to answer the question, and for some unknown reason you jump in with non-sense.

The facts are simple for anyone who wants to find them, for you however, I fear they will find themselves just out of reach.

And that’s not a joke.

brakes...

I use Sport mode. Don't like 1 pedal. Didn't buy a golf cart.

This thread is the equivalent of arguing why your favorite color is the best color.
That's kind of the beauty of the Lightning implementation. Both the 1PD and 2PD are so seamless it isn't immediately obvious that you're getting maximum regen/efficiency whichever one you use, so fill your boots.

I'm team 2PD myself, but if I did a lot of stop and go traffic that would probably change.

I think it’s completely fair to prefer one over the other. I just don’t like when incorrect assumptions are shared and presented as fact and some of the reasons people do not like 1PD I believe are untrue.

I just prefer 1PD, my Model 3 didn’t have it when I first got it and when it came in an update I was ecstatic. Honestly, one of the reasons I like it so much is that it makes trail braking even easier so that I can adjust speed and shift weight from the front to the back of the truck as I want to through a corner without even touching my brakes.

Ahhh, but what you would REALLY like is a switch to be able to apply it to the rear motor only at will eh? ;)

1 pedal is superior except for the snow.
I have had my truck now for almost 2 years and tried 1PD many times and just couldn't get used to it. We recently got a big dump of wet heavy snow, and I used 1PD again as it allowed the truck to literally crawl down a very steep hill under full control with ease. I was the only vehicle able to get down this hill and bystanders were watching with surprise. I tried it without 1PD on the other side and I couldn't keep the truck slow enough with brakes without ABS kicking in and making me slide a bit, while stressing my passenger out. I drove the next few days in better conditions and will keep 1PD, cant go back!

Also our other EV is my SOs Mini Cooper SE and it's 1PD is very similar, so she had no problem adapting.

Yes. It’s like we became Reddit. To each their own. Sometimes I use 1PD, such as when I am descending some steep winding grades in the nearby mountains. I find it easier than using Sport Mode because the max regen means that I don’t have to constantly switch between the accelerator and brake pedals. Same if I am driving in heavy traffic. But for normal driving? I prefer Sport mode with 2PD. Just feels like the best balance of regen braking and still feels similar to a diesel truck and not a golf cart.
I am just glad that we have OPTIONS. It would be great if we could dial in the regen settings ourselves with a custom setting, but I am not holding my breath for that one.

Because my SO doesn't like it. If I turn it on, then she has to turn it off. LOL. On the other hand, when using BC, I like to push the envelope and speed up a bit when it backs off due to a car in my lane. If 1PD is on, as soon as you then release, you start to decelerate. Minor annoyance, i know
Same with mine. I like it. she doesn't.

sw engineering manager,
I did not know about the brakes working with the regen.
THIS ^^
On the Lightning (I believe also on the MME), the brake pedal applies regen and seamlessly transitions to friction brakes when regen braking capacity is exceeded.

So there is NO penalty for using 2 pedal mode in the Lightning UNLESS you frequently brake too hard and get into the friction brakes. The Brake Coach meter teaches you how to stay in the regen zone.

With 1 pedal mode, the brake pedal still works the same, but instead of coasting when you let off the accelerator, it applies regen (but never the friction brakes from the accelerator pedal). So you can drive and slow down with no need to worry that you are braking too hard. On the other hand, its tiring to hold your foot just so when you want to coast, easy to inadvertently slow too quickly, and if you NEED more brakes, you may find out too late and have to quickly move your foot over to the brake pedal.

Other EVs work differently!
In Teslas, the brake pedal ONLY applies friction brakes. To get regen in a Tesla, you let off the accelerator. There is no "2-pedal mode" or coasting in a Tesla. You can adjust the ratio of how much the Tesla regens as you release the accelerator pedal but you cannot get regen from the Brake pedal. Same for the Rivian I test drove. I suspect its the same for most other EVs. Ford is the only one I have confirmed has blended Regen and Friction braking on the Brake pedal.

For the reasons you articulated, I stick with the additional control of 2 pedal driving. 1 pedal seems to be a quick fix for regen management that Ford figured out.

Talking Hybrid's here, have had two Toyota Hybrids - H400 Lexus & Camry & both would regen with change in accelerator & also application of brakes. Ala Ford, smooth transfer from regen to brake on the Lexus, a bit more of a ragged disconnect in the Camry. Except for highway driving I use Sport mode for the regen, which is pretty non-existent in Normal mode.

I was thinking of pure EVs.
Yes, there are many hybrids with blended regen/braking on the brake pedal.
