I don't want to pre-empt this, but I think I've found an actual bug in the codebase that could be causing the issue that I and other people have experienced. However, I want Ford to look at it to confirm.

Also, I can see at least *one* of my charging stations has the download waiting to take, so... I'll see what happens

So…

It’s 3:55 am. And a MASSIVE storm just came through and woke me up.

My outdoor unit is now displaying the same issues that everyone else has experienced, and I need to wake up and have coffee before I do more digging.

It looks as if I still have root access which is good…. But here’s the weird thing.

We had a massive thunder clap and the power went out. Then, about 30 seconds later, the power came back on. FROM THE TRUCK.

This has legitimately never happened before. I don’t know it was the update, the fixes I applied to address the logging bug or something else. I need coffee and time to figure that out…

We had some big storms come through overnight Wed. I don't know if we had a power surge that may have reset the FCSP, but when I plugged in yesterday, it immediately started charging at 60A (which I had set on Tues). So I guess the change did eventually make it through, it just took a long time or a possible reset. Storm chances drop over the weekend so I can play with the setting a little more reliably. Thus far, I can still see charge sessions on the Insight page (still showing up after I unplug), but still cannot connect via setup app to see version numbers.

No storms here, but I just checked and confirmed that the Charge Station app can see, but not connect to my FCSP - no change. As a test, I just used Ford App > Charging > Charge Station > Settings > Max Charge Current set to 36 amps (instead of my normal 48). When going back into that setting later, the change is shown. I'll see what charge rate I actually get tonight. Tonight will be a good night for it as I will only need about a 40KWH charge.

Ok, update time.

Good: The bug I found appears to have been fixed with the latest update. (I'm seeing 2.137.26-ford+26-24)

BUT, it's also removed some of the things that @ericpullen's API had discovered, and that my HA system had relied on for my integration.

It also does appear to have a bug. That constant reboot/not online thing that other people are reporting.

If it doesn't clear soon, I'll connect up an Ethernet adaptor (likely this weekend0 to see if that is a more stable way to investigate things

Probably letting Ford know about further discoveries will prompt them to lock down the interface even more. As Google, Microsoft, etc., have been doing recently, it would probably behoove Ford to use AI to examine its own software for security loopholes and methodically eliminate them, making for fewer cat-and-mouse games for honest users, but less attack surfaces for the truly bad guys.

I’m 99% sure that now that we have the ability to boot from a SD card that we won’t be able to keep unlocking the features. They may make it annoying to have to keep unlocking each time.

@Aminorjourney, it looks like you landed, as I did, on a precursor firmware to the original 5.3.6 firmware update that Brian (not AI) described in his OP post. Since then, several people, including me, have received firmware version 5.3.8, which seems to suffer from some of the same bugs that 5.3.6 did (lack of connectivity, inability to derate). So, you probably have at least another firmware update or two to go before you have the latest and greatest Ford issue.

Unfortunately, it's been left in a non-op state, so I'm going have to ... explore a bit

I've also locked my other FCSP from accessing the Internet for now - to make sure I still have a firmware image that still works

Another update:

Looks like the latest OTA broke some of the things I'd figured out, and certainly makes the Wifi connection spotty at best.

There's no root access any more...and my conspiratorial nature would suggest stuff I won't mention here.

HOWEVER, I did do a "Fake power cut' test, and the truck passed with flying colors, doing an automatic power transfer, so whatever the latest update fixed, that's on the list.

The bad news?

WiFi is about as trustworthy as a DC Lobbyist working on behalf of the oil industry - and the Ford Setup app does *not* work. And with WiFi dropping off regularly, it can't talk to the mothership.

I may or may not be investigating further. And shortly after @Jim Lewis posted about my update progress, I ended up getting the full fat 2.500.34-ford.36+26-28

That said, if you want to have any kind of access to your gear, you may want to block this update from happening if it hasn't yet

Ive had good success with a wired connection even before rooting mine. Just ran it down the left side
