A few close up stills taken from the b-roll footage. One gives you a better idea of the character lines running alone the rear end which you can't see in most images. Another shows what the truck looks like without the LIDAR bump.

Overall, even though all we can see is the basic shape under the sheet, I like where it's going. You can see some more radical elements like the shorter hood and how it angles down near the leading edge. But the overall shape and proportions are less radical than what I was expecting, which is smart imo.

I really like the lines we can make out like the sharp unibrow line cutting across the leading edge, or the character lines flairing out over the wheels. They give the truck more visual character imo.

I don't understand why automakers hype products so far in advance of availability. It's not just Ford, they all do it. Any excitement felt now will be long gone by the time this vehicle is available.

They've been tossing around the $30k figure too. If there's a $30,000 Ford EV truck I will buy one for the first person who quotes this message. MSRP has to be $30,000 or less. There is a zero percent chance I have to pay up on this ridiculous bet.😁

We’re in a weird era with inflation nearing that 3% edge which can freeze out the average person YoY on income growth/dealing with consumer goods & services $$$. Drivers will either be in 20 year-old ā€œsurvivorā€œ vehicles (the ones still running) or looking for cheap dependable transport.

Thus there’s a niche value market for uh…. Inexpensive dependable ā€œutilityā€œ scale transport. Surprise! That’s the reality of a Model T moment. When we acquired our Lightning I casually said to the S.O. ā€œYah know, we could have bought four base Mavericks ($20K each) and given two to the kidsā€. Crazy.

These reports are exciting. FORD is clearly not backing away from EVs as some folks are afraid, and they have learned much from the previous models. This dog and pony show was an excellent idea.

Our Lightnings will be outdated, sure, but not replaced in the near term, and I believe FORD will support them fully.

I think FORD has a good chance to survive the wave of Chinese products on the market so far.

True success will depend on the battery charging curve. Will a 10-90% charge get down below 15 minutes, as the Chinese apparently can do ???
Umm, yes, they are backing away from EVs, unless it's this new platform.

I believe there is less than a zero chance that 10 to 90% charging will be below 15 minutes. Not going to happen.

Ok they made this very confusing. Yours was a good report but it’s gone while other reports have now been added here.

I suggest you edit your first post and leave their redirect but add back in your original report. They are just trying to drive traffic to their new forum. That’s understandable but this info is fine to be on this forum also.
Yep. They added a teaser post in the Maverick and Ranger forums that are identical to the one they put in here. At least they didn't do that in the Mach E forum!

In this case they are hyping future product so you won’t buy an R2 or other EV before their vehicle comes to market. Tesla is very strict about the Osborne effect and never talks about new models that replace old ones prior to being on sale or imminent within a few weeks.

I am excited about this truck and happy to see more about it. I can't wait for the order guide to be published. It will be fun to see the options and cost.

I am considering one for a daily driver and then keep an old F150 gas around for towing and other needs.

$30k. Sure. We've seen what a Slate looks like at $30k, 150 mile range, 200hp, single cab and roll up windows.

I will never understand how such large companies with so much marketing experience still fail at the basics: "Never promise the customer a price so ludicrously low that you will be unable to fulfill the promise while remaining profitable."

Just build the thing, figure out what it costs, add profit, name price. That's how it's supposed to work.

What if it's like, $30,250, do we have a bet? šŸ˜‚

Yes, and I win the bet. Zero chance there's a real vehicle you can buy for $30k or less. Over promise and under deliver, it's terrible business.

They've already basically said that the lower cost variants would be a super base, low range spec with smaller batteries. Think it was one of @tommolog 's videos with someone from Ford.

I asked AI to generate a picture of what the final version of the truck might look like based on the 3d model. I don’t know, I think that’s a damn nice looking truck.
Except we can’t get camera sideview mirrors in the US and recessed door handles are probably not happening either, picture #2 looks like a pretty good guess. If not, it’s not to late for Ford to tweak the body panels. šŸ˜‰
