Wow I knew our trucks were a little rare but I didn't know they were only 24,000 manufactured last year rare.

Gotta find a way to get the price down.
This.

The Lightning, as is, is a great vehicle.
I am sure on paper it is costing way too much.
That said, for years Tesla lost a gazillion dollars on each Tesla Model S they sold. Knowing it would take a few years before they reach enough SCALE / volume to be making a profit.

IMO, Ford needs to drop the price of the Lightning, create special Lease programs, rebates, whatever the marketing dept thinks will sell more Lightnings so they can increase the volume. Yes, they will lose more per vehicle, now, but the goal is higher volume. You can't steal 2nd base, while trying to keep your foot on 1st.

Are they actually losing per vehicle? The public information incudes the massive costs of development and setting up the line, but I'd wager that they are actually making a tidy sum per truck sold. It is just a huge loss when you take the initial investment into account, and of course Ford will do everything they can to keep taking write-offs for tax purposes.

Can't wait for the regular editions to release next year and those $100k cybertrucks start selling for $80k brand new. Foundation Editions will probably be worth $60k.
Careful - the Lightning is already to that now with dealers dealing on them, Ford $7500 and govt $7500. It's about the same thing.

Seeing as you seem to be a stickler for detail, 55K is well over double last year's 24,165 sales.
But still way less than predicted they would build last year or this year.

My wife says I'm one in a million, is like that?

"No, she doesn't mean that as a compliment".

Battery materials cost is falling, and even more so for LiFePO batteries. I hope those are still coming and should help with cost substantially.

correct but 150,000 in 2024 (the run rate goal stated in 3Q last year) ... that would have been a 5 fold increase.... never going to happen. but the plant CAN produce that IF demand gets there. 2-3 years from now?

Unless things go way of the rails for their plans this truck won’t be made in that timeframe. It will be the T3 out of TN. The ICE will get a redesign in about that timeframe and it will cost too much to translate into another version of the full size Lightning.
