Lightning Software Updates using FDRS

I just checked PTS for my 23. No bueno. Back to waiting for Ford to integrate NACS superchargers into the factory nav. With the latest Google Maps breaking its integration with the IPS and preconditioning there is really no current solution for routing with preconditioning when using Tesla Superchargers.

Also I have had no OTA’s since last March. I have done all module updates myself with FDRS since then. I think the only thing I lack at this point is NACS routing option in native nav.

It's in the carport on an extended climate run right now...my update schedule is daily at 0900 so we'll see if it does the magic then.

Mine is set for 5AM, took the truck out for a drive and got back home about 2hrs later.
At 9.45am I got an email from "fightclub" asking how Iiked the update, and I'm like, huh ?
I go back out to the truck and then it pops up that I reciecved an update.

The car did act super weird as I pulled into the garage (I stopped briefly in the drive way with it in park) all sorts of warnings about park sensors and stuff (car is clean) so I don't know if it decided to apply the update right then and there. (bunch of DTCs on the park sensors and ABS module in FDRS when checking later, everything cleared OK)

Interesting thing is that PTS showed nothing, still on the old revision for now and no OTAs completed / pending.

Hooked up FDRS and the APIM update was there so I ran that now, took like 5min,
no longer in FDRS but PTS says it still has an update (might need some time to synchronize I suppose).

Checked for updates this morning and the APIM in the available software list has disappeared. So obviously the OTA took care of that....my new Sync revision is:

Nice to see SW they created back on August 9 can finally get rolled out 5+ months later. I started my truck in the garage last night, the SW showed downloading after 20 minutes, hoping it finished install. I'll know more in a couple of hours when I get out.

I now wonder and hope about the updated Sync version for us with the 12-inch screens.

.....did a selftest and everything was still reporting green.....and had another go...same thing. Rinse and repeat. Still the same.

So I've got the ACM update that never goes away along with an OBCC update that won't proceed because there's a communications error of some sort.....

My ACM Update disappeared yesterday when I had Mobile Service perform the 25C69 Recall on the Integrated Park Module; it included SOBDMC, PCM, and ABS (maybe a couple more, I lost my screen capture). He also took care of the 26C10 Trailer Module update; same update is/was available on both my Lightning and my '23 5.0. I don't know if he just went ahead and cleared the ACM because it had an Outstanding Field Service Action. He said he had to enter a PIN to make those disappear from the list. Oddly, the paperwork shows he address 25C69 and 24U14 but makes no mention of 26C10.

I guess I'll find out Monday. Mobile Service is coming back out to address 26C10 on my 23 5.0. It does not show 24U14 ACM Update like my Lightning did.

He had to enter a pin....? I wonder what that was about? I still have that ACM update in my list. I just ignore it now. But on the other hand my truck does not have an outstanding recall for the ACM module anyway (24U14). Just a ACM module in my list of available software that won't go away.

What do you mean “ext. climate run” what’s the purpose of that? Do you mean you’re just leaving the truck on hoping that an update might happen?

Yeah that was the idea. But I had to actually go out there and tell it to "Update Now" to get things started. I thought it might connect to the mothership while it was in climate mode...but I guess not.

I think the whole idea with Update Schedule is the truck has to be off for certain updates. That’s why the default is 1:00 am.

Ford explains it here (see Step 2).

Other OTAs can install anytime and don’t observe the Update Schedule. See Step 1 above. I’ve had many of these download and install while driving.

Yea, remote start won't work. Ignition has to be on for the vehicle to accept the OTA trigger.

Oh copy. Yeah I got the same one. I’m assuming you’re talking about the “hard drive” enhancement for xm radio or whatever. I just completed a cross country trip and it sure would have been nice for the SC to be in the native navigation. So stupid that it’s taking this long for that update.

I had mobile service come out twice this week, once for my Lightning updates and once for my 23 Lariat 5.0. Both have had the persistent ACM update that won’t clear. The Lightning had an ACM recall and the 5.0 didn’t have an ACM recall.

I stood and talked to the guys that did the updates. On the recalls - ACM, trailer module and parking pawl there was a validation process at the end of the update where the tech had to copy some data from the recall description in FDRS and upload it. I saw them do 4 recall updates and one of the guys briefly explained but I didn’t watch close enough to be able to repeat it myself.

The ACM update that had an associated recall cleared from the update list. The ACM update without a recall did not clear for the dealer tech either.
