So the truck will not change lanes on its own if you tap the blinker - and BC is engaged, and the lane is very conservatively clear?

Anybody else getting this latest round finding that Lane Change Assist doesn't work?

That's correct. Seems wild to me that Ford would push this update, claiming new features, but then have to include a disclaimer at the bottom that they might not work because it's also dependent on an additional update that they can't seem to push out.

In the release, it states: "Sliders to turn Lange Change Assist and In-Lane Repositioning On or Off in the Driver Assistance screen will be made available in a future update"

This forum is basically all enthusiasts that are very technically minded. Imagine trying to explain this all to the average person.

I'm not sure why Ford struggles with this so much. Push both updates together at the same time or in quick succession.

This update was pushed to my truck today, got notice it didn’t complete, hopefully it gets it done tonight!

The one "not completed" update I got cost me $1k. Well probably more that I got impatient after waiting 3 weeks. :cwl:

The problem is that the update that gives you the sliders installs while the vehicle is on and running, and the update that gives you the actual features installs while the vehicle is off and parked. While it is possible to update more than module with an OTA, these two modules in particular cannot be updated simultaneously due to the fact that they are updated in different ways.

I do agree that they should be pushed in a quick succession to one another.

As I mentioned, the update notified yesterday and installed overnight, just in time for today's ~300 mile road trip. I was able to use BC most of the drive and will say it met my expectations. I didn't suffer the ping-ponging on 1.0 others have experienced, so it seemed as stable as before. The lane change worked very well, just a quick tap of the turn signal and it would prepare for lane change and then execute. Easy-peasy, nice and smooth. In fact, at one point I was behind another vehicle that was going slower than my set speed, and BC notified me on the dash that a lane change was possible, and if I tapped the turn signal it would execute it for me.
All-in-all a nice upgrade from the previous release.

The global problem is that the truck has 50+ modules with software developed and maintained by whatever supplier made the most sense to deal with whenever the feature was first developed. It's not so much an architecture as a ramshackle shelter. Sort of amazing it works at all.

As an aside, Ford canceled the successor to their legacy architecture earlier this year.

Well, I got my first test drive in and I probably have the best situation to report on the improvement.
Finally got the update Thursday afternoon, and was able to test it out on a 55 mile drive with three different freeways. Exactly what I was expecting! Only disengaged once, and worked through some construction zones. Made lots of lane changes with decent traffic volume. I found that it need a decent gap to make the lane change, so any large speed difference requires a manual lane change otherwise you get caught waiting for a long time. Very happy with having this update after the atrocious wait.

Did a 600 mile road trip with BC the whole way this weekend. Lane changing worked amazing! The wind was INSANE, and BC kept her straight as an arrow. It even worked perfectly in a severe monsoon rain storm that passed through.

2024’s have BC 1.3, so I have lane change and it does work great. I am just looking for it to stop asking me to hold the wheel on Interstate’s when there is a turn. It is also weird the way that it asks you to hold on when you go through a toll gantry. I guess 1.4 doesn’t change that.
