I am pretty much exclusively PaaK, for over a year without major problems (you can't get stranded with the backup code). Since this forum has started Yet Another PaaK Thread, the last two weeks has been absolutely stupid using PaaK exclusively. Four times I've been forced to use the backup code. No idea why.

PAAK works great until it doesn't. Then I've had to fumble entering my password twice as people were waiting for me to move.

PAAK only and the door keypad / start PW if I for some reason don’t have my phone.

My dumbass lost my fob and two house keys months ago when they fell out of my gym shorts somewhere within an hours distance. My house uses PAAK too heh.

A locksmith appointment is on the list for house keys for that second fob in the glove box

PAAK exclusively but it has failed more than a few times, couple of times a month, but then I just use door pin and passcode to drive. Probably due to my habit of closing all apps on phone (S25U) reflexively, but it's quicker to just type in the code and than it is to reboot the phone.

I also keep a key fob in the truck in a faraday bag so I can hand out to valet or friend if ever needed.

Make sure you learn (and write down) your factory door code. You'll need both key fobs on hand to make the truck read it out on the dash. YouTube is your friend here. I thought I had mine set when new, but it stopped working and I had to find and use the factory code to reprogram it.

This example is why I don't use PAAK. I tried it for a few times but it was extremely unreliable just as GDN says. I don't want to walk up to my truck and it fails to unlock. I don't want to have to pull my phone out of my pocket (especially when it is raining) to fiddle with the app to get it to unlock. That is why I use the FOB. It works every time, 100% reliable.

PAAK all the time. I don't carry a fob although I did buy a Faraday bag a couple weeks back. Now I just need to put the fob in it and put it in the truck.

I've had a few times when the truck wouldn't unlock by touching the handle, but have always been able to open the app and then unlock. I've had a few times where the truck will tell me it doesn't have a key, usually opening the app or restarting the app will fix that.

To date I've not been stranded because of it, but I do have concern that it will happen some day.

With Tesla the card was super easy to carry in a wallet and never have to worry about having the backup. I do have the door code too, I've used it a time or two if I left the phone in the house, but then you have to remember your code, which I do, but sometimes takes me a time or two to get right !

I'm not trusting the PAAK technology just yet, it's configured, but don't rely on it exclusively, I'm also carrying around house/etc keys anyway, no problem including the FOB.

This afternoon, truck parked outside the garage while I did yard work, keys were in the house, phone in my pocket, no problem starting the truck to roll her in for the night.

But as far as leaving the property, without the FOB I feel naked and at risk of failure of PAAK if I were to rely on it alone.
Same here PaaK has been flakey at its best, I don't trust it at this point. My Pivian is rock solid with Paak.

There is one pretty good reason to keep the fob in the driver's pocket, or somewhere in the truck: those of us (me included) who have the spare wheel lock installed and keyed to the truck's skeleton key, can get the spare wheel down and installed.

Others who also chose to have a keyed spare wheel lock to secure the spare wheel but no fob within reach would be hard-pressed to get the spare wheel out of its under-bed nest and installed using just the PAAK.

...and yes, I modified my keyed spare wheel lock so that the spare wheel lock's easy-to-pop-off rear circlip is not accessible anymore to sticky hands.

I prefer the fob because I can reach into my pocket and open the frunk or tailgate just by feel, without pulling the fob out, while I'm still several car lengths away from the truck. Saves so much time, given how slowly the frunk & tailgate open.

I use the PAAK but…

Once the PAAK failed on me and the backup passcode was deleted. Of course I was away from home and had to have my wife drive to me with the key. That was frustrating.

Now I keep a FOB hidden in the truck (without battery) just in case.

The only time I had a hiccup with PaaK, was when I had a truck full of people and other phones. Even then, it was temporary and nonintrusive. [knock on wood]

No issues really with PaaK. Sometimes it doesn't recognize my phone right away, but I attribute those to my phone. Been using PaaK since I bought my truck 2.5 years ago. Like others, I keep my spare fob in a Faraday bag in the glovebox so if my phone is ever busted I can keypad in and use the fob to drive.
