Thanks for all the advice and support. I’ve made a claim with the other driver’s insurance which is Allstate. Let’s see how good their hands really are. :)

I went to the tow yard today to remove personal stuff and to take more photos. Here’s a pic that I’ll share that I hope you’ll never see on your screen.

I also want to mention that the 911 Assist worked! Immediately after the crash it notified 911 without me doing anything and it seems like almost instantly I was talking to a 911 operator.

no airbags being deployed is a very good sign and gets you very close to not being totaled. I'm going on the side of not being totaled, assuming no frame bend or battery damage, and the worse being the front motor being replaced.

I hit a deer and had a bent-in bumper and front end parts, damaged AC along with headlights and fronk and other seemingly minor parts. No side-or hood damages. No shop in the area would touch it other than a San Antonio special Ford shop - don't think anything HV was affected. $18K cost. With these trucks selling used for 35-45k I'll be surprised if it's not totaled.

I tagged a deer at 45 mph about 2 years ago with our Mach E. From 30’ away you couldn’t easily see the damage…. Just shy of $5K. Slightly bent hood, cracked headlight, side shifted fender, broken trim piece. Insurance $$$ and repair special tools and labor $$$ costs are nuts now. Insurance adjuster required about 20 photos from precise locations. The repair facility is very good but they fight insurance companies on labor $, parts $, and worst of all; took 4 months and fortunately, we could use car until appointment. In your case the time delay would be crazy and I agree, looks “totaled”.

Oh dang, I'm sorry to see that. Happy it didn't end up worse, but I'd wager that's a total. I've seen a few damaged EVs recently and the repair costs can just skyrocket, even if the electrical systems are fine. Hopefully insurance treats you right and gets you a nice new truck!

It isn’t just about the cost of repairs, the problem is that the truck‘s value is diminished and you are owed that as well. It is much cheaper for them not to spend any real money fixing the truck and hope that they can out negotiate you on the equivalent value. They spend all day doing that so they are pretty confident that they can win. In the overall scheme of things, the truck is worth more for parts than it would be if it were to be rebuilt. How much would you pay for a used EV that had a major accident on its carfax?

Meanwhile the taillights are worth a couple of grand on the used market.

We loved our Mercedes and really thought that it could be rebuilt, but the rebuilder (who does classic cars) said that although his company was very good, it would never be a Mercedes again.

The insurance company told me to clean out all of my personal items and bring all the keys and leave them in the truck. A company named Copart will pick it up.

I assume some of you are familiar with Copart, I had to Google it. Copart is an auto auction company. Which gives me a clue that they may have already determined that it’s totaled. But I don’t have an official determination or payout offer yet.

I searched the Copart website for F150 Lightnings and found a few. There are a couple that have less damage than mine. So it would seem that it doesn’t take much for them to total a Lightning.

Here are some more pics from the tow yard:

I’m not sure I would agree to that until I got a settlement negotiated. A bird in the hand vs a bird in junk yard. Or sometime like that. 😊

Oh wow, that was quick. So they definitely believe that it’s a TL then. iAA & Copart are normally the ones who take the insurance companies TLs. Some adjuster might go out to it & write just under the TL threshold so that it sits at a body shop until it’s actually totaled or they manage to repair it. If they do decide it’s a total (most states it’s required by law that if the repairs cost more than75% of the value of the vehicle, it’s totaled) I’d reach out to Billy Walkowiak, or a company like his so that u get a fair value for ur lightning.

Copart is basically an auction company that sells vehicles that have been through an insurance claim (IAAI and Mannheim are the others )so I would say they are totaling it!

Sorry....or congrats on the news? Man, I would need two days at the wrecking yard to remove all of my aftermarket stuff before handing over the keys.
Same lol

Don’t do that, you have not agreed to have the car totaled. You have the right to have your own adjuster involved.

Which insurance company are you talking to? The causing party? That is an adversarial relationship, don’t do them any favors without something in return. If it is in the wrecking yard collecting fees they have a bit of an incentive to talk to you.

How are your back pains, by the way?
