I just had a blow out of my left rear as well on a road trip Xmas eve.
I had to use the provided Jack and Triangle wedge included with the truck.
All went pretty smoothly. Changed it in about 30 min to the spare.
The one problem I had was getting a replacement tire with the same weight rating 116T. Most shops only stock up to the 115T class of tire before going to real off road treads at 119T.
I think I am just going to make the 115T I bought to get home but I think I am going to make that my spare and order the correct replacement.

My dealership doesn’t carry it, has to order one

Well let’s add insult to injury. I read most of this post to get the general idea of the problem. Now have fun getting a stock replacement tire. I had a flat along with a power train failure and the dealerships reply to my flat was that stock tires are not available so we can get you something close. Just not the same mileage and speed rating as the original 🤬

Did you need the physical key to access the spare let down crank? I just saw a training video for tow truck drivers that indicated the physical key lodged inside the key fob is required to access the spare. This is a real concern for me since I never carry the key. Maybe I’ll remove the physical key and leave it in the glove box without the electronic part of the fob.
Yes, you need the key to access the spare tire. We've been discussing this on Twitter. If you go 100% 'phone as a key', and get a flat, you better have a key handy. So you keeping one in the glovebox (or better yet, have one with your jack) is a great idea. UNLESS someone makes a bluetooth lockable replacement cover for the spare tire cable lock :) (quick someone make this part)

I would like to believe that if I use Ford’s roadside assistance that they will have the correct equipment, unlike AAA.
If you use Ford's roadside assistance, they'll show up later than AAA and know less :)

I don't think any Tesla even comes with a spare...and those aren't run flats, at least not on our S.

Your truck should have come with a key like this, so there is no need to carry a FOB if you don't want.

Your truck should have come with an extra physical key. I keep mine in the glove box.
Yep, I believe that is the use case for it, and i do the same.

Does anyone have a good website or video for how to neatly repackage the jack kit after using?

I had to use mine this week in a rush and did not carefully pay attention to how things were packaged up.

On that note, Kudos to @Discount Tire on the free flat repair they provided me!

The manual is not too detailed about the repacking process, here is a snapshot

Yeah, if you’re using a full-sized matched spare as only a true spare, then it narrows the added complexities. The complexities arise more if a person is using one expecting to simply swap the tire in “permanently” in the event of a flat.

that said, I believe the F150’s full sized non-matched has a mph rating of 70mph, and the manual says to not drive it more than like 200miles. So it’s not too limiting, depending on your driving habits. Given my habits, this spare wouldn’t limit me for a few weeks. Someone with long daily commutes might want more buffer.
The reality is that all F-150s have come with a non-identical spare for years and years. The Lightning is no different.

A spare is not intended for a 5-way rotation. It is designed to get you to somewhere for repair / replacement. However, it's important to note that the limitations on the spare are not stated correctly above.

While a max speed of 70mph is noted, the distance you may travel is NOT 200 miles, it's 2,000 miles. Therefore, you can complete your trip just fine.

You should also not exceed 50mph in 4 wheel drive.

Page 472 of the manual.

@Discount Tire offers certificates for tire replacement that will cost you less than the cost of one tire for all 4 tires.
