I don’t believe you are out of line at all in feeling Ford should replace your entire drop down pack vs one defective module each time. My ER has 9 modules with number 9 still pending replacement since December 5th. It’s so bad of situation going on that the module they sent to replace my bad one was itself DOA bad upon arrival. At this point I feel I should be getting entire pack replaced. They can take mine and let the lab rats diagnose it in the lab and do the research there.

By the way I initiated buyback process as a potential resolution in my case. Time will tell what happens next. Been in shop since December 5th Ugh.

I would sure like to have a better understanding of the failures. Also in the lifecycle of the truck these repair times are all over the place. Some repairs seem to be less than a week, some over a month. Not sure if this is a dealer issue or Ford parts issue? I hope your truck has some kind of resolution soon.

If you would be so kind to reply, I am trying to keep a spreadsheet (see my signature) of Power Malfunctions and battery module replacements, but I may be missing one of these for your situation reported in the forum: Year, Model, ER/SR, Build date, miles, and/or final outcome?
I would think Build Date would be the most telling, but miles might matter in the long run. Maybe Software updates will be a factor?
Knowing the % of charging types (DCFC vs L2) and average/max charge rates would be interesting, but only Ford would know that...although I have had a number of FordPass missing charge logs so who knows how well they keep data!

D'oh, sorry to hear it! If it needs a module replacement, mine took about 3 weeks total. Wasn't thrilled with communication while mine was in, but the truck has been good since I got it back. What dealer do you take yours to? I'm still looking for one in Austin, but didn't have a great experience at Lief Johnson for a minor thing, so I took it to new braunfels (where I bought it) for the battery issue since I figured they might care a little more.

I took it to truck city ford in buda,tx. Part of Leif Johnson ford.

mine is a may 2022 build.

I went to the one on Koenig, cause it is close to work, but Truck city is closer to home and a neighbor takes their Fords (no evs) there. Let us know how it goes there, maybe I'll try them next time I have an issue. Wonder if any of the dealers in town actually do any mobile service?

I received this error yesterday randomly. Vehicle is a 2023 F-150 Lightning Lariat, with ~1,000 miles. There was no affect on power, and the error cleared after stopping the truck, parking, and restarting. Put in a call with the dealer we purchased the vehicle from (it already needs to have an air dam replaced that was damaged in Transit), and am awaiting a time to drop the vehicle off to diagnose any issues.

Service Advisor states that it will be 2-4 weeks for Battery Module to arrive.

I got a Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power message in late November, but then it cleared. I've noticed other times recently when the power was reduced, but thought it was just the cold outside temperature.

Took it in for for the CSP 23B57 (BECM) and the other recalls and CSPs, plus 20K mile service. I also haven't had Hands Free available because of a faulty camera. They did all the work, but had to order the camera replacement. The BECM check showed no errors. I picked up the truck with a plan to return when the camera arrived.

On my drive home I noticed that I was at 54% power and the Powertrain message popped up. But it was really cold that day so I wasn't concerned. When I got home I plugged in to charge (Charge Station Pro) and got a red ring on the charge port, then it flashed and turned blue like normal. I thought it was fine. About 20 minutes later I got an alert that said there was a charging failure and to unplug and plug back in. I did that but got the red ring again. I called the Service Advisor and told her what was going on and she had me bring the truck back in. I decided to just leave it there since the camera would be arriving in a couple of days and it would give them time to figure out the charging issue.

Today she called and told me that there is a bad module and it would take a 2-4 weeks for the new module to arrive. She said that the BECM check showed no error when they checked it, but they are thinking that after they did the software update the issue showed itself. At least that's how I understand it.

She did say that it is drivable, but I won't be able to charge over 60% and will still be at reduced power. My loaner is a '23 ICE with no heated seats or steering, so I'll be picking up my truck tomorrow morning, and just drive it sparingly.

Hopefully it will be fine to drive......

I got it back from the dealer today. They confirmed that it only had 57 percent power output and that it would not charge properly. They pulled code P0B24. They reset one of the modules and the code went away. They couldn't replicate it again. The battery health report showed that one of the battery modules was 0.017 volts different than all the others but in an acceptable range. Basically, they told me that they didn't know what caused it. I have trust issues now for my next long road trip...

CSP 23B57 was completed too.

Basically, they told me that they didn't know what caused it. I have trust issues now for my next long road trip...

FWIW. When my truck first had the Powertrain Malfunction \Reduced Power in late November, I cleared the error by clearing the DTC code using the OBD port and Forscan. Normal charging was restored and the truck drove fine for a month - with no issues. The same fault occurred at the end of December, while AC charging. The 57% power reduction and inability to AC charge returned. I already had a service appointment scheduled. so I didn't clear the fault the second time.

The bottom line: If you have the fault when you are traveling and need full power or need full charging speed (and you have an OBD dongle with you) you should be able to clear the code and drive and charge normally until you can get your vehicle to the dealer.

It sounds like your dealer may just have done the same thing I did. Don't be surprised if the error returns at some point, but it doesn't need to ruin your trip.

Not that I've had the problem, but after reading a few recent experiences, it seems that force clearing the DTC by the tech was a temp solution, I'm glad I carry around an ancient code reader, it's not good for looking at these advanced codes on Lightnings, but I could clear DTC if it put me in a predicament.

I'd still hightail it to the service department for an official examination of the battery state of heath so they can start the part ordering and schedule a module(s) replacement as the situation might warrant.

Make sure to get it checked!!

I had this happen once early last summer:

I cycled truck and it’s never happened since - but it did go thru several Ford OTAs and minor recall work at the dealer since then. Also, I believe this happened right after an OTA and others on the forum indicated that they saw it happen close to a OTA. So not sure the root cause but but truck now has almost 32,000 miles and no issues.

I had the same problem with my 22 lariat extended range. Been at the dealership for a couple weeks on top of all the other recalls for this vehicle. I’ve contacted attorney for the Lemon law. My truck only has about 28,000 on it. I enjoy the truck for the most part. Ford needs to work on their electric vehicles and the service that needs to be provided to them.
