I have a problem with plug and charge in Ford as they charge a 20% fee. you are not able to get the EA membership price if you are a member. I turned it off and my charges are cheaper.
Ford doesn’t charge a 20% fee. You just can’t access a discounted plan when using Plug & Charge.

Plug and charge would be an excellent feature if it connected to subscriptions.

Or, if for some reason Ford can’t figure that out, how about enabling plug & charge Only on specific networks. I.e. leave off Tesla and/or EA and leave on for any network you don’t have a subscription to.

If they leave EA/Tesla off of P&C then that means you would have to use an app to activate and pay.

Which is the same thing you have to do today if you want to use your subscription.

I agree they just need to recognize subscriptions. It was mentioned that they did a survey of interest last year but I’m guessing it didn’t become a top priority.

Absolutely the wrong way to go about it...

Anyone who may have a shoddy phone plan would have had this as a redundancy app in the event that it wouldn't work somewhere. And it's definitely saved my ass heaps of times.

What a terrible move.

Now all the app does is take you to the Navigation app to find chargers in-vehicle just for you to, what, not activate a charger? Lol

Waste development hours on this, bring back trip planning in app.
The single best feature of the app (and zone lightning, maybe) and they remove it only to never bring it back. :(

So now everyone in the family has to have a fordpass account and have the truck shared with them to use the blue oval network. How is this better?

Yea, having that as an option made it really easy to let a visiting friend or relative borrow the car. "No, you don't need an app or anything. Just start the charger from the center console when you get there."

Another thing is that the FordPass iOS app really doesn't like if you choose not to share data with Google... to the point that you can't even search for a charger in the app unless you share data with Google. This restriction is completely unnecessary because iOS already has geo and revgeo APIs.

check how much more they charge you. I dropped it once I found how much more I paid than what the charger had displayed on screen. there is a service charge when using plug and play.

Update from Emily

  • We have heard the community’s feedback and thank you for raising that the sunset of the Charge Assist App has impacted the charging experience in some scenarios.

  • The addition of Tesla Superchargers to Ford’s connected navigation has been prioritized.

  • We are also currently working to deliver improvements to battery preconditioning across several supported charge finding and navigation options.

On the subject of Tesla super chargers, are all of them accessible to us? I tried using one over the weekend, plugged in and it showed on screen charging but very low and after a min or so kicked off with an error on screen. Never received any payment screen thru the app or on the dash. I probably wasn't doing something right.

No. Only the v3 and above stations (v3 and v4 dispensers) will work with NACS adapters and non-Tesla vehicles. These are all 250kW or faster chargers.

The most reliable way to tell is to use the Tesla app to identify compatible stations. The Ford Pass app, PlugShare, ABRP, etc. will work as well but the Tesla app is the most reliable.
