Found this.

" IDS and FDRS are changing to dealership-wide, Subscription access instead of a license based system. The old versions of IDS and FDRS will function for this transitional period, but we recommend you update to the Subscription versions the next time you update your software. Please uninstall, reboot, run the IDS CleanUp Utility, and reboot before installing the new IDS version. The system will allow users to log in to 5 different devices at any time, offering much greater flexibility than the previous license system. "

Guys a word of warning DO NOT in ANY WAY use your Fordpass account with FDRS!!

Set up a secondary account for FDRS> If you get banned Youll lose your account and may never get it back and that screws up all your Blue Cruise and other subs..

Ford is really fucking it up here.. I thought it was only me but it seems its everyone.. Too many attempts means the account is banned.

So PLEASE set up a secondary account to use FDRS..

Yeah but he used a different system to submit tickets and got his account back
I got my Ford Account restored (because its linked to my truck), but still ZERO response from pts

Price increase ==> worse support & experience

also phone support does not deal with account lockout issue, only the pts ticketing system

Are you in EAP by chance?

I stopped recieving OTAs and was 9 months behind. I went into the EAP website and saw that in my profile for the field "Vehicle Used For Business Purpose" was set to yes somehow. I changed it to no and BOOM I started getting OTAs the next time I drove it, and then 1-2 a week for the next 2 months.
No l am not, but might check that anyway.

You sent me your VIN before. I see they have not sent you any OTA's in a while, but your modem seems to be working just fine. It reported itself to the cloud as recently as today at 11:22am and it is not reporting any codes that would indicate any connectivity issues. Matter of fact, it is not reporting any codes at all......just some stored codes and nothing active.
Thanks for looking.

I noticed in FDRS, what looks like a flag setting program. "OTA Inactive disable" something like that anyway. I may run that to see if Flag is set or unset. The title implies if flag is set then no OTAs will happen.

On a double negative like that, put the verb first. So setting the flag should mean it will “disable the OTA Inactive” thingamabob. In other words, you want OTA Inactive to be false. So you need to disable it by setting the flag.

Extremely confusing Ford.

What will this do (what does this do now) to all the independent mom-&-pop mechanics shops out there across the land? I wonder...

Definitely doesn’t help them. Even the MSOs are panicking over this.

On the Mach E forum, a member there said his neighbor owns an independent shop and was going to bring his pc home to update his Mach E over the weekend. He tried to log in to FDRS yesterday and his account got banned.

So if I purchase a 2 day subscription for $120 at my house and on the laptop I use for FDRS updates, I shouldn't have an issue updating both my Lighting and my MME as long as I use FDRS to connect to each vehicle after plugging into the port with my VCMII? Don't try to look up any VINs (including my own)?

Correct, unless you get your account locked out for no apparent reason which has happened, too.

On a related note....the FDRS (and IDS, FJDS, etc.) software is managed by Ford's affiliate Rotunda which is underpinned by Robert Bosch GMBH out of Germany. Many of you know this.

They sell hardware, provide software, and manage backend services to facilitate the diagnostics and updates that we and the dealership techs do.

They have a privacy policy which I only came across today (Rotunda site) that obviously describes what happens with data they collect. I wasn't aware that they collected my browsing history until today.

Mentioned in that privacy policy is the fact that they use Google Analytics to gather and store info...and they provided a link to a Google site that will provide a browser addon that will let you opt-out of Google Analytics altogether. This is the direct link and it will download the relevant addon for the browser you're using when you go to the site. I use Firefox and Edge so I added this addon on both.

I know this may be a bit tin-foil hat but I really don't think FDRS/IDS, Ford, Robert Bosch, et. al need to know my browsing history, at a minimum, much less whatever else they've collected about us.

A very instructive and relevant book on the subject is Professor Shoshana Zuboff's "Age of Surveillance Capitalism", well-described here:

https://www.hbs.edu/faculty/Pages/item.aspx?num=56791

...and this of course means that we are the product which is sold and traded.
