Damned if you do damned if you don't! Good things we have DC/DC converters that will keep our batteries perfect for ever! Not!!!
Alas.

Like the Greeks (or somebody back then said) "all things in moderation."

Not too hot and not too cold, the Goldilocks principle of battery maintenance.

It is written that modern smart battery maintainers are the ticket to near eternal battery life.

The Zen of Lightning maintenance, if you will.

@Adventureboy I've started getting occasional "system off to preserve power" messages so I know it's time to finally swap out my 12v. I assume no news is good news here but I wanted to ask you (or anyone else who put in an H4) if you have any regrets so far? I think I'm going to go this route in the very near future.

No regrets except I wish I went larger than H4!

I mean with the winch I just purchased and if I ever decide to get a light duty plow that is powered, I'd need it.

Zero regrets. I monitor it daily and the truck charges it fully. No more messages so far.
