2023 IRA Tax Credit buyers report

Please post here if you bought a qualifying vehicle for a Federal Tax credit in 2023 and if the dealer provided a report stating the vehicle meets all the requirements to qualify for the credit.

I bought a new Tesla and a Lightning this year and I didn’t receive a report or document stating the VIN qualifies.

F150 lightning and did not receive anything from my dealer, they did confirm they report it to the IRS

I got the form just fine.

Then again, I pointed out to the dealership ahead of time that I needed to get it. Ford supplies it in their internal systems with a link.

It's under Step 5, Finalize Deal, in their system (as of May 2023). "Sellers Report for Section 30D Clean Vehicle Credit".

Bought new 2023 lightning last week received paperwork from dealership as a copy of the one they file stating met requirements

I got one from my dealer. As stated above it's titled "Seller's Report for Section 30D Clean Vehicle Credit" with the Ford logo at the top. In my case the information is hand written and signed.

i just talked to my dealer and he said the reason he didn't give me the Seller's Report is that my truck did not qualify for the tax credit. I asked why and he said the MSRP at $81,840 exceeded $80,000. I educated hm that IRS Rules state MSRP before any Destination and Delivery or dealer add on cost. Being that my truck MSRP before D&D is $79.845 it qualifies. He found the statement on the bottom of form so he is reporting to IRS and sent me the form.

I did not get this form when I bought a lightning last year and I did not get the form this year when I bought my second lightning. Two different dealers.

The rules in 2022 and prior were different than the new rules with the new IRA Inflation Reduction Act.

For 2022 and prior tax years the dealers didn’t need to provide any documentation to either you or the IRS. This year they need to mandatory report to the IRS and per regs they should also give you the Sellers report for your records.

Call your dealer and ask for the form.
