That’s cause that made the acronym HIS. If they would have made is a HERs then we all know it would have been done right….????
Yup, they chose the wrong phrase and acronym, Home Energy Replacement System.

Backup only runs your house when power is lost.

Bidirectional can feed energy to the grid or supplant use of the grid to gain cost advantages in cases of variable rate schedules or demand charges.
The Ford Home Integration System can do this, and is doing so in pilots with utilities around the country. The issue isn't the tech, it's the regulations and the utility policies.

That’s pretty much what I said in post 2.

And since the truck can accept up to 150 kW from DCFC, there would be little danger of providing too much DC power from the Delta inverter via solar.
That is only true when the battery is nowhere near full. When DC fast charging you'll see the charging power drops dramatically as the battery gets closer to full. This is one reason why the current "bug" that allows charging from solar by the Delta inverter is not really safe as it does not control/limit charging power based on the battery SOC.

I’m interested in this one from Enphase since I already have their hardware for my home solar. I don’t expect current vehicles to be compatible, so it won’t help me until we upgrade from our current Model Y and Lightning.

I’m getting solar install quotes now and I’m also asking them about this Enphase bidirectional EV charger. They want to install all enphase solar equipment and I’m hoping to at least make myself ready for when/if this bidirectional charger of theirs becomes available. It looks promising but it’s already been delayed from 2024 to this year.

I just noticed that on the web page for the future Enphase BiDirectional EVSE, they now have a Technical Video and it shows a guy plugging in a Lightning with it. It's at the 1 min 28 seconds point in the video. Trying not to get my hopes up but this looks really interesting. https://enphase.com/ev-chargers/bidirectional

The only 3rd party system officially for sale and working now is the Sigenergy system.
It uses a DC bi-directional charger. It works on many vehicles (MachE, some Kia, some Tesla) in addition to the Lightning.
Enphase has a similar technology as noted here. It just isn't for sale "yet". Unfortunately they have teased it for more than 3 years now.

And another video from Enphase featuring the lightning.

Is this actually available for sale to residential customers and/or their installers yet? Enphase website just says contact us...

Nevermind, Enphase website for this product says "Available in 2026 " at the top...
