Don't go in expecting it to be anywhere close to Tesla FSD but I would say it's better than Blue Cruise mainly due to the fact that it works anywhere and isn't subscription based. I'd much rather pay up front than get stuck with a monthly/yearly subscription praying that I get updates since Ford sucks at them and that's putting it nicely. I went down the FDRS rabbit hole last Fall on my 23 after an update got hung and never retried. 6 hours later and I was up to date and had all BC 1.4 features which we still have people waiting for today.

Had been on the fence on trying the comma but decided to bite the bullet a month ago after Branden's initial video. Also helped that they were running a $200 off sale. It certainly has its quirks like needing the usb adapter to stop the start-up errors and can require some tweaking to get it to your liking. If you're a fairly tech savvy person, it's worth a try. For those that still have a flip phone or want something that just works, the comma may not be the right option. No regrets so far and I still have 2.5 years left on my Blue Cruise trial.

For the cost, I think it's a pretty good deal, especially if you're logging highway miles. They do tend to go on sale a couple times a year, so if you really care about saving money you could wait but I think it's still worth the full $999 price. I can't compare it to BlueCruise since I have a Pro and my truck didn't even have ACC from the factory but, at least for me, the subscription and lack of updates would be deal-breakers. I'm at the point where I miss not having it if I forget to bring my 3x with me on drives.

With the current level of functionality and my driving habits, the only way I can imagine paying for BlueCruise would be to buy it for a couple individual months to cover the 2 or 3 road trips I usually do in a year.
I’m accumulating the pieces I need to get a Comma up and running, but I’m trying to be patient and wait for a sale, or find a used one.

That's probably how most will end up doing it. Unless you're traveling several hundred interstate miles a day, paying $50 a couple times a year is way better than paying $500 each year. Then you better be happy with the current functionality because even if Ford decided to provide any more improvements for existing models, who knows when you'll actually get them. Granted geohot's attitude to the very people supporting his self-driving endeavor is a strike against comma. Customer service isn't very high on their list.

There is a competitor that has excellent customer service:

https://konik.ai/

i have a C3X from Comma and an A1 from Konik, BluePilot runs the exact same on both.

lol. A Polish made modified comma. Brilliant! 14 day trial and having to return all the way to poland is a bit meh though. Wonder what "thermal enhancements" were made.

Any chance anyone has a photo of the Comma mounted below their FITCAMX? I really don’t want to hinder my visibility by mounting too low, but I’d also prefer to keep a separate dash cam.

Check the Gen14 forum, I think there was one or two users there.

Alright everyone. The couplers are officially sold out. The link is still good for placing a reservation for the next batch. The expected lead time is 4 weeks. But it can take up to 6 weeks. There is a $15 non refundable deposit on these to make sure i dont get a bunch of dead orders.

I don't have a photo, but I used the stock mount and I am now using @Ajzride 's sliding mount under my fitcamx. The stock mount keeps the Comma mounted higher on the windshield than the sliding mount does. I purposely block the view of the hood and a tiny sliver of the road in front of the hood when looking at the fitcamx image while mounting the Comma to get the Comma up as high as possible in the center of the windshield. Even though the Comma is visible in it's entirety under the mirror, I don't consider it as "blocking" my view as it's off to the side and not located in a place that you look at when driving.

For the new updated Blue Pilot 4.0, to switch models do you have to reinstall? (eg to switch to FoF)
