After I downloaded this 6.6 version the app had me reset my Phone as a Key. The app walked me right though it just fine.

First time I've had to do that on a Ford Pass app update.

Good to hear. Funny though, it didn’t require that of me?

Just updated my app and it says to “Update to ensure your Phone as a Key continues to operate properly.”
Odd!

I’ll have to check to be sure my phone is still recognized.

I can help clear this up. What you're seeing is a request to refresh the security certificate for your Phone-as-a-Key. It’s strictly a security protocol to keep the connection secure rather than a "bug" per se, but I know having to re-do the setup isn't exactly how folks want to spend their afternoon.

To get this sorted, you will need your physical key fob with you.
  1. Hop in the vehicle with your fob.
  2. Start the truck.
  3. Follow the prompts in the Ford app to delete the "expiring" Phone-as-a-Key and set up a new one.
That should clear the message and get you back up and running.

I had a chance to test my phone after updating the Ford app and indeed it does Niko get function as Phone as Key.

I have begun so distrusting of the stability of phone as a key, I have been carry my fob for some months now.

I’ll reinitialize Phone as Key some time later on.

Does the update immediately kill PAAK? Not good if the app updates while you are away from home and don't have a physical key.

That’s a good question, but I really don’t know for sure.

You should have a passcode set in the truck so you can drive without the PAAK working though.

Don’t believe so. I’m glad that they expire the security certificate and have to renew it. It’s a pain, but in an increasingly connected world and with some of the stories you hear about Stellantis’ issues with exposed endpoints IN THE CAR ITSELF, this is a prudent security measure.
Annoying, but a good practice.

I wonder if Brian can enlighten us with how long the certificates will be good for.
