I’m only getting a charge rate of 3.4kw/hr with my 80 kw charger.
It clicks into the low rate almost immediately. Supposedly Ford has an auto update to fix it, but it been over a month. Is anyone else having this this problem, I’m better off using a dryer outlet.

Isn't it great how technology makes our lives so much easier? ?

Sorry I don't have any tips on coercing the FCSP to update. Mine is still sitting in the box while I happily use my dumb charger lol. Maybe it needs a better network connection (2.4 vs 5 GHz or something).

All I have are nitpicks. kW is a rate and already includes the per hour part. Saying "kw/h" is like saying miles per hour per hour. And your FCSP is 80 Amps (19.2 kW @ 240V), not 80 kW.

I use my Ford Charge Station Pro as a dumb charger since I could never get it to connect to the Internet. It seems to work reliably as long as it is not too hot outside - in which case it might take a break for a bit before it restarts on its own:

@TJD7, need more info:

Was the FCSP installed by a professional?

What size breaker is it on? What wire gage was used?

What is the switch inside the unit that sets charge rate set to?

Do you have an internet connection to the FCSP? Have you ever had a connection to the FCSP?

The fcsp is capable of UP TO 80amps. Who installed it? Did they not test it afterwards? What's your mains voltage ? How big is the breaker? How long has it been installed? Was a torque wrench used to tighten the connections?

Have you tried turning it off for a few minutes and then back on again?

What's the firmware status?

Make sure your Fordpass app setting under Energy > Charge Station > Settings is set to 80 amps, we've seen recent reports where folks have found "Max Charge Current" set at 16 amps out of the box, edit it to 80 amps or what ever your installed setup requires.

If it's consistently around the 3.4kW rate, looks like it's either on a 20A circuit or the setting in the FCSP is set for a 20A circuit.

1. Check the breaker that the FCSP is hardwired to
2. Check the FCSP setting and make sure it's set to the preferred setting matching your breaker. The unit will automatically take into account the 20% derate per code
3. Your profile doesn't specify what model year (MY) Lightning you have. Anything newer than 2024 maxes out at 60A as it was reduced to one charge inverter. MY2022-2023 have dual charging inverters and can take advantage of the full 80A.

So I’m getting ready to install my ford pro charger. I will use 60 amp breaker and understand I will set the app to 48 recommended for that breaker. The charger will of course be hardwired. Using 6 -3 awg wire connected to 100 amp subpanel.

There’s a setting on the charger you set im
Assuming it may say in the directions but anyone know what setting I would set it on based on the info above ?

I think @TaxmanHog can answer better but on my Chargepoint Home Flex, I set the breaker amperage in the app and it will automatically set the max output to 80% of what I set. In my case, I specify in my app that the breaker amperage is 60A and it works out that the max output is 48A and I get approx 11.5kW of juice.

There is a rotary switch inside to set the top limit, use that to set your maximum amperage, should be in the included install manual which position to put it in.

I have my FCSP on a 100 amp circuit and set to max 80A. I experience a loud humming at times when the truck is charging, especially because my electrical panel is directly on the other side of the wall from my bed and the conduit runs along the outside wall to the front of the house. I have not tried reducing the charge rate in the Fordpass quite yet to see if that reduces the noise but has anyone else experienced this?

I realize that reducing the charge rate will obviously extend the amount of time required to charge to 80% but since it charges at midnight it's not like I need it to charge fully in 2 hours anyway.

There is some evidence that shows a slower charge rate will help with overall battery life expectancy. If you know your driving/charging habits, you could potentially lower your charge rate to closely match your departure time. Set-it-and-forget-it is to set your charge limit to the max supported and SOC limit to 80-90%, which is what I have it to.

Set dial to #5, the wiring conditions (wire gauge & breaker) guide the hardware setting.
