Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.
Hello Ford, I own two lightnings, both with around 10,000 miles and the empty coolant recovery reservoir was bone dry on one (I've never towed or went off road) and barely seeable on the other.

I think there may be a production issue with the coolant line clamp assembly, please see the video below -

My battery pack on 1FTVW1ELXNWG046** is recalled so while you have it taken apart will you inspect the coolant lines for a perforation caused by a faulty installed clamp?

Sincerely,
Cybertruck Lightning Man

Diagnosis complete and this time it is battery module 1 failure.
My guess is this will be fixed and quickly followed up by battery module (..n) failure.

It will be at least 8 days in shop so my running total of days is shop will reach at least 53 in 25 month period of ownership. ?
Truck still not back. 3 weeks in shop and not sure when it’s coming back. Poor.

Ford still not made a decision on my buyback. They have 30 days to decide and look like they will take them all but not sure why on such an obvious case. ?‍♂

If you're bored of this story, honestly so am I.

So still no truck. Went in on 25th Feb for second occurrence of Powertrain Malfunction. So it's officially a month in the shop with no signs of it being returned. That's a total of 73 days (and counting) in the shop since delivery which is just not going to work for most people.

I initiated the Ford buyback process the day before it went into the shop on the 24th Feb. The promise was a maximum of 30 days to process so 2 days left and counting but I am not holding my breath.

@Ford Motor Company I don't expect you would want to engage in this forum but if you can be a source of help to get me out of my misery it would be appreciated.

I will say, I genuinely feel like this is a 2022 problem and I love the truck so would definitely buy another one, just not a 22.

Fwiw, from the comments here it seems Ford often says No the first time you ask. The second time, don't ask, tell them you are getting a lawyer to file for a buyback.

I got my truck back today!!! It went in on Feb 25th returned on April 24th.

I got confirmation yesterday that Ford have agreed to buy the truck back so I am now awaiting my offer. I think in CA that's a pretty formulaic affair so it's time to go buy a 2025 truck.

I am hoping I get BC1.4 and walk away locking from the outset. Not sure what else I gain or lose from 2022 to 2025 Lariat. I think 9.6KW Pro Power is no longer standard so need to watch out for that or maybe given current price drops I can squeeze into a Platinum ?‍♂

I love the truck, I just need a more reliable one. :)

Happy to see that you're staying with the Ford Lightning, good luck finding the perfect 2025!

Just to round out the conclusion of the story in case anyone needs to go through the same process. Ford did indeed buy back my 2022 Lariat ER. They were incredibly fair and because my issues started from the week I picked up the truck they paid me back 99% of the price I paid for the truck including the sales tax.

As I said above my intention was to get into a new Lightning but I just couldn't get a good offer on a 2025 and all the 2024's in my area were gone.

I have ended up in a GMC Sierra EV Denali Max Range so let's see how that goes. It definitely doesn't float like a lightning but the range and fast charging are a bonus.

The forum isn't quite as comprehensive as here, the support here has been amazing, thank you.

I would prob buy a Sierra/Silverado EV too. That range is too hard to pass up and it's a game changer for longer trips. It just makes life so much easier.

Give it time….those trucks haven’t been around nearly as long as the Lightning.

Good luck with your new ride!

I drove that and the Silverado. Great truck. But just isn’t for me. I am swapping my Lightning for another one.

Good to see there is competition for EV trucks. What forum did you find?

The owners of this forum had a sister site for the SilveradoEV (www.silveradoevolution.com) that became a wasteland of crypto and psychic ads. They no longer list an affiliate for the Chevy/GMC.

Update: My yellow wrench was for a failed coolant diverter valve first seen in May and has showed up every time the truck runs. Took it to the dealer a month ago, they had to back order the part so I kept driving. Part came in, service team was honest that this was their first ev repair of this nature and wasn’t sure how long it would take. It went faster than they expected and it was done in roughly five hours. All under warranty.

I never had any issues with charging or driving.
