The 2024 Lightning cannot charge at 80 amps due to lack of dual onboard chargers. HOWEVER, 48 amp should be doable. How does your Grizzl-E show 46 amps if you dont mind me asking? I know my tesla wall charger outputs 240V 48amps to my lightning aka ~11.5Kw/hr, but Fordpass shows 10.6ish from what I assume as charging loss. I was wondering if you were going off based on that.

The 2024 Ford Lighting has the fast charging port, have you tried changing the cord to a fast charging cord. I bet that would work, but at that point you might as well buy their charger.

As explained above, it's due to the limit of the On-Board charger in the truck. Nothing to do with the cord.
You also posted very incorrect information here and here. You have been very active today!

I highly suggest you watch some videos

Tad off topic here, but for my '22 Lariat ER, the system "should" allow the full 80a from the Grizzle-E, yes?

look at this way, you are future proof to have a better charger if you upgrade to something down the road that can take advantage of the 80 amps.
I have a Grizzl-e 80 Amp as well -- I can confirm that it will only charge at 48 Amps max for the Mach-E and Lightning (without dual charger). Also, the 80 Amp requires a 100 Amp circuit, so it's a lot most costly of an install. Where I live (Ontario, Canada) you need a disconnect in the garage too (also expensive).

For most cars, a 48 Amp (on a 60 Amp circuit) is perfect for at home. As mentioned, at least you are future proofed for faster charging EVs down the road.

You have to make sure it has the dual charger on board. The Ford pro charger uses both the AC and DC ports (the plug on the charge connector) to charge at 80 Amps.... so it's custom vs. most 80 chargers.
No it is not. The 80 amp charger, nor any other level 2 AC charger of any kind, uses the DC terminals. All 80 amps flows through the same AC terminals as any other level 2 AC charger. The FCSP has the DC terminals in the connector for use by the Home Integration System, which pulls DC directly out of the battery in the unlikely event the system works properly.

He indicated it was 2022 Lariat. It has dual charges 80AMP. Ask me how I know.

Grizzle is known to have very good support, I would recommend you contact them.

The above is false. Only the AC pins are used for 80 amp AC charging. The DC pins on the Ford Charge Station Pro are for use with the Home Integration System only. A dual-charger Lightning will charge at 80A with any 80A J1772 EVSE, such as the Wattzilla or Grizzl-E or the Gen2 Tesla HPWC (using a suitablr adapter).

Ahh. Good to know. Thanks for the correction.

I'm beginning to think Ford should be kept a few more features of the '22. I guess the truck would be VERY much more expensive now, though. Thanks for this information.

We just bought the Grizzl-E Ultimate 80A charger and are disappointed to learn our 2024 Platinum (ER battery) won't accept more than 46A from the charger. Grizzl-E's tech support sent me a spec sheet for the 2024 Lightning that lists its on-board charger with this label "19.2kW/17.6 kW (80A) Fleet Only" where, apparently, "Fleet Only" means it has to be the Ford Charge Station Pro Charger! This is extremely disappointing that Ford would limit a third-party EVSE and not specifically mention that ONLY their Pro charger will be allowed by the truck to accept 80A.
Nope. Only a truck with a 19.2kW/17.6 kW (80A) onboard charger has the capability of accepting more than 48A. It’s not the EVSE brand. Your truck doesn’t have the dual onboard charger built in.

Thank you Mid. The other guys on the forum straightened me out last year when I initially posted my “issue.” 😬
