It’s great that you can schedule a departure time in the Ford App. But what I find strange is that there is no setting for “Quick” departure. Typically, I know about 10-15 mins before I need to get in the car and drive somewhere. It would be very useful if Ford added a setting that warmed up the battery and perhaps started the seat heater 5-10 mins prior to departure.

What does everyone think about this idea.

Yes! I assumed this already existed and I just had not found it yet

If you have it setup in FordPass, you just remote start it, and it auto-shuts off after 15 minutes (with a countdown on display). You can also extend it 15 more minutes at anytime.

The reason this doesn't exist is because you can't warm the battery in 10-15 minutes. You can hit the Remote Start button anytime you want.

Does the Lightning not have remote start that would operate those things?

This is what I assumed. When I get my truck soon, I just figured I could hit the remote start prior to departure like I've done for decades.

Does one " have" to warm the battery before driving?
Does Ford recommend this, or is it just for comfort?

If you can preheat the battery while plugged in it can reduce range loss in the cold. That is the only real benefit.

My process is to set my charge time to a narrow window from 5 AM to 7 AM. Which is the last 2 hours of my lower tier tiered usage rate. I depart at 7:20 so I just do a remote start about 10 minutes before to get cab toasty, I figure the battery is still relatively warm from charging window and doing remote start means the steering wheel is actually warm, unlike the scheduled departure glitch

Does remote start warm the battery like preconditioning does?

this is a gap going back to even the MyFord Mobile days for the early Ford EVs and PHEVs. Remote start has always been the workaround as others have mentioned, but as has been pointed out, that doesn't help with the battery temperature at all. You aren't able to fully condition the battery in that time necessarily, but it would be nice to have it partially conditioned at least.

It makes absolutely no sense that an on-demand preconditioning button does not exist. I leave for work and come home at different times every day. The scheduled departure function is useless to me. Not to mention that it bricks the heated steering wheel, but that's another issue.
