A few things that I can't figure out... hopefully you folks have answers:

1. the rear doors have to pull the door handle 2x to exit the truck.... At first I thought my passengers were crazy. but nope it's a thing. Can I turn that off?

2. Wireless carplay and blutooth don't mix. It seems I can have Carplay or Bluetooth but not both? Both wirelessly.

3. Silly motion alarm when leaving the truck and leaving passengers inside. Can I permanently disable it?

Thank You

Yes on #2. Either you stream music wirelessly through bluetooth, OR you use CarPlay, which uses a WiFi connection. You can’t do both; it’s one or the other.

I don’t honestly have any idea what you’re referring to in #1 or #3.

Add your trim level (Pro, XLT, Fash, Lariat, Platty) to your profile so you can get better and more accurate answers.

I haven't ever heard of #1 either. Did you check the rear door near the latch mechanism to see if there is some sort of child lock switch?

Another possibility is that the doors automatically lock when the truck starts moving. There is a setting in the sync screen for that. I have never ridden in the back, but maybe it takes 1 pull to unlock and the second pull opens the door? Might be worth exploring that.

I agree with @WaterboyNorCal on #2.

My Pro trim doesn't have the motion sensor inside but my previous Mach-e did. There is a setting to turn that off but you had to confirm it everytime you turned off the Mach-e. I would assume that the Lightning has something similar.

#3 sounds like what Ford calls "key detection" and YES you can turn it off in the settings. On Ram trucks you cannot, and it's ANNOYING.

1) A great example of the valuable info in the manual. Page 85. Pull #1 unlocks door, #2 opens it. If you have autounlock turned on (same page), and you open your door first, all doors are unlocked.

3) No, you cannot permanently turn it off. Leave vehicle running... Or, change setting, page 102, and each time tell it to turn off.

No 1 is because the doors are locked. Check your lock settings and change as desired.

Personally I like Ford's implementation, others cars I own will never open with the handle when locked. Pulling twice is better in an emergency.

Regarding #3 ... I get Rear Occupant Alerts when I exit the truck and have something laying on the rear seat.

His description is vague, but with #3 I’m assuming that what he’s talking about is the horn honk you get when you leave the truck on and step out with the key in your pocket and walk away. If that’s what he’s talking about, then yes you can shut it off permanently in the settings. I did, and mine hasn’t done that annoying thing since. If he’s talking about something totally different, then maybe he can explain it in more detail.

I've turned off the rear occupant alert, but as T.F.M. says:

When you switch the system off, a
message appears every six months as a
reminder that the system is off. You can
switch the system back on or leave it off.

So, it nags one every six months instead of every time a backpack is left on the rear seat. A pretty good design choice IMHO, promoting safety as much as owners will tolerate, without crying wolf and being ignored anyway.
