EV charging is unattended - you don't have to stay at the vehicle.

ICE refueling is mandatory to attend the pump while pumping (in almost all states). Those 5-10 minutes of your life are completely wasted just waiting on that pump. Maybe the other passengers can go in and buy some snacks or use the restroom while you pump, but at least one person cannot overlap their bathroom break with the pumping of the gas.
I made this argument on Reddit for another discussion and I was shocked and/or disheartened by how many people argued back that they never monitor the gas pump. They either get back in their vehicle or go in the station while it pumps.

They seemed to infer I was crazy for thinking they had to stay there since "most pumps have an auto stop when it's full". Yeesh.

I almost want to put down not having to be around as many careless and oblivious people as another pro for avoiding gas stations.

I've seen the cut-off fail, worse when it happens while fueling a motorcycle!

Its also a law in most states to stay in attendance.

It may take longer to re-fuel the EV, but at least it doesn't stink, get on your clothes or spill electrons all over the parking lot...lol

My 23 Pro cost me $32.5K + options. It does 0-60 3.9 Seconds.

23 Raptor R costs $107K and does 0-60 3.7 Seconds.

So it is not just cost of ownership that is different. Cost of purchase for me was 1/3 to get the same zip.

And anyone with the means—even a little bit of means—can make their own “fuel” for the EV and gain independence from unpredictable and uncontrollable energy companies.

A family member has a Bolt EUV and charges it entirely on a small amount of solar.

Maybe on paper, but I have first hand experience racing my brother in law's Raptor R in my Lariat. With 5 people in my truck I smoked him.

All the noisy (stinky) turbo diesels too.

We need a name for the silly grin that comes across your face as you Silently leave those vehicles behind ya, in your dust. What can we call that smile:
The Lightning Grin?
The EV smiley?
The Gapping-Grin
The smoked-em laugh?

No need for a name, just a Halloween sticker on the tailgate will do;

I asked chat gpt to analyze my typical driving over a years time with my old raptor vs my lightning as I was curious what my time waiting for charging vs going to a gas station…

By far the most underrated marketing information EVER:
Total Station Time: ~6-8 hrs/year
Total DCFC Time: ~5-6 hrs/year

in addition, per session charging time has side benefits; I regularly get free electricity. I don’t remember ever getting free gas.

And I’ve never gotten ethanol filled electrons that separated and clogged up my battery after only a month. 🤣

I drive 25K a year and at .064 per kWh about my savings v. driving Flex Limited or 4.6 Adrenalin. I don’t miss gas smell or standing in the rain getting drilled sideways by wind & wet. Or freezing winter days. Or just standing as a mark at a shop & rob.

Thinking back to the comment about filling up at Costco … now I remember sitting with 40 other cars waiting my turn. If you have driven a Diesel having to get out your special glove 🧤 to not stink up your hands.

in 16 months I have added 5 minutes of electrons 4 times, the rest in my garage! So my ‘pump time’ less than 30 minutes. Oh, there is the 10 seconds to grab the cord as I walk into the house 🤭

In almost six weeks that I've owned my Lightning I've driven a little over 1,700 miles.
According to the GOM I'm averaging 2.4 miles per Kwh. Since I charge between 10pm to 6am, FPL claims I'm being charged $0.04 per Kwh. So, 1,700/2.4 = 709 Kwh X $0.04 = $28.36 !!
The ICE truck I replaced with the Lightning would get at best 16 mpg. 1,700/16 = 106.25 gallons @ $2.85 per gallon = $302.83 minus $28.36 = $274.47 in savings. That doesn't include the time I'd spend filling my gas tank six times.
