Hi All,

I had my tailgate light bar replaced on my22 Lightning Lariat per the recall. I now see water drops in right side of the bar after washing my truck. I'm taking it in to my dealer soon. Does anyone else have issues with the replacement light bar on the recall?

There have been other threads on this topic, yes there have been repeat failures.

I'm on my 3rd. Last one looked like a fish bowl it had so much water in it and the lights failed. All replaced without question. I think once the lights fail due to filling up with water they will replace it without much strife. Otherwise if the lights work and you see moisture (not a fish bowl of water), they will resist replacing.

Hi Taxman,

I'm worried about this rear Lightbar once it goes out of warranty.
This will be my 3rd replacement of it.
The first time it was replaced was before the recall.
Then Ford recalled all of them, and it was replaced with what I have now, and that one is accumulating water droplets inside it.
I was told that Lightbar was $3500 with no warranty. Grrrrrrrrr!!!
I have the Grainger Ford extended warranty to 72000 miles, but the coverage for that is so misleading in the disclosures.
I bet they will not cover it after the 3-year /36000-mile factory warranty period!

You have a Ford extended warranty. Granger sells it, as do other dealerships.

If a lightbar stops functioning properly, make an NHTSA complaint. Enough of them make get them to reopen their investigation.

Completely unrelated: But my '25 has no tailgate lightbar, yet the startup splash screen on the dash still shows a truck with the lightbar every time I get in the truck. Guess Ford forgot to update that. Lol.

They’re not going to make a different splash graphic for each trim level!

I recommend that everyone with a repeated lightbar failure report it to NHTSA as a safety issue. It is obvious the problem has not been corrected as part of the first recall. A new recall needs to be issued, or the original recall extended until the problem is fixed.

So you're saying the tailgate lightbar is trim specific? I didn't know that. I thought they ALL had it until 2025 Job 2, and then were removed as a cost-cutting measure.

Mine doesn't have it, I kinda like the look of it, but with the problems folks have been experiencing, I'm probably better off without it...

Does your plan have an X for "Interior/Exterior Lighting Delete" if so, you're {NOT] covered.

I did not buy the light insurance, thinking the lightbar was fixed after the recall was done on it.
I have had no problems for 2 years until now with this new light bar.
I will get it replaced again now before the factory warranty expires.

I thought only Lariat and Platinums had it. But I’ve been wrong before!
