I FINALLY figured out how to get the stinking Tesla magic dock to release from the charger and tried it out. Well, while I’m impressed with the convenience, I’m unimpressed by the speed. 106kw vs the 160-190kw when using my a2z. I’ve only used the magic dock once so far, so……..
What’s everyone’s experience and/or comparisons using the magic dock vs your own adapter?

I can't get the damn thing out so I always use A2Z adapter. But only tried twice at same Supercharger location.

I have used one at the same location several times the last two summers. When the adaptor comes out with my first attempt I use it, when it refuses, I use my own adapter. Speed was just the same with or without it at the Boardman Sage Center location.

I have the one that came with the truck, only used it once and the dcfc was derated that day due to the summer heat so best I got was 73kWh or some low weird number like that.

I've only ever been able to get the adapter out once - I think it's designed to make us look stupid. I don't even try now, just use my ford adapter.

Tesla changed the logic/procedure on the V3/V4 Magic docs. You've got to push the button on the NACS plug, wait for the click, and then push the NACS/CCS adapter up into the unit and then pull it out. I too fought with this over the last two years, and saw the proper procedure on a UTube video last summer. Haven't had a problem since. I recently saw 189kw speed for 10 minutes with the truck at 45%SOC & temp in the 50's dF

Yes the procedure changed to get it out as mentioned above. But you have to check supercharger.info to see which locations are actually releasing the magic docks. Some v3/v4s have it but Tesla has not unlocked those yet.
