Which adapter are you using? There is a known issue with the early A2Z Pro adapter when used with V4 dispensers (works fine with V3); one of their comm pins is too short. I had that problem and the company replaced the adapter under warranty.

If you're using superchargers regularly (or even more than once a month), the 12.99 membership and using the tesla app pays for itself in no time. Looks like the ones at the Bucees are magic dock enabled. Were you using the magic dock or your adapter?
I do road trips from time to time. So I don't see the benefit of having a tesla membership. Also I mainly charge at home with my FCSP.
Either way the stations I have issues with are the V4. Black and white tall station with longer cables. No magic doc as well since I was using my NACS adapter.

I have encountered this exact issue at Buc-ee's in FL, the Tesla chargers do NOT work with my Lightning or Chevy Bolt BUT the Mercedes Benz chargers at the other end of the parking lot work just fine. When I look closely in the Tesla App, it does NOT say they are available to OTHER EV's. It must say that for them to work, doesn't matter what Version dispenser. I was told by the manager at Buc-ee's that they (Buc-ee's) own those chargers and they are only enabled for Tesla EVs.

I also encountered this at a Tesla station in NJ on a road trip, it was my guess that the shopping mall made them only available to Tesla vehicles.
As a rule I've found that at co-located Tesla and {insert brand} stations, the Tesla chargers are not open to other users.

May sound like a dumb question. Are you plugging your adapter into the truck and then plugging the NACS cable into the adapter, or are you plugging the NACS cable into the your adapter and then plugging the adapter into your truck? The reason I ask is many people here have reported that only one of those procedures work - and it's not the same. Personally the only time I have had a Tesla SuperCharger fail (showed Charger fault) was the first time I used it and I plugged the adapter onto the cable and then into my truck. After not getting it to work, I disconnected everything and the second try I plugged the adapter into the truck first and then plugged in the NACS cable. Worked perfectly. Ever since, I have plugged the adapter into the truck first and it has worked every time (both V3 and V4 stations). I have the A2Z Typhoon Pro adapter. Many people have reported that they have to plug the NACS cable into the adapter first.

As far as a Tesla or EA membership, remember that you can pay for a membership, and then cancel it. The membership will be valid for a month. If you are going to be taking even a one day long drive that will require one or two fast charges, it will likely pay for the membership for the month. One more note on that - make sure it actually cancels. I activated an EA membership a couple months ago for a trip where I expected to charge one time at an EA station. After I completed the trip I cancelled the EA membership. It showed that I cancelled, however I couple days ago I saw my credit card was billed for another month. I called EA and the person was able to see that I had cancelled it and did not know why it auto-billed. That person submitted a request to refund. We'll see if that works.

I'm perplexed at why so many people don't understand that you can't LOOK at a Tesla charger and know that it's compatible or not. No guessing is required.

Ford put a BIG BLUE CARD in the box that told you this. The APPS (Ford, Tesla, PlugShare, ABRP) all show only COMPATIBLE locations when they are properly setup.

wonder if you're having issues with the adapter on v4's that someone mentioned earlier. That one appears to have the magic dock activated so you just hold the button on the handle for a couple seconds and push up and it should pull out an adapter that looks like the original Tesla adapter that Ford was sending out.

Granted I have also run into a location (v3) that showed compatible in all apps and had been working a couple weeks before I tried to use it. Of course it wasn't working when I tried and was down for non-teslas for a couple months before it could be used again. I usually check the tesla app for compatible locations and then check plugshare for any recent check-ins from non-teslas. I don't go to Plugshare first since I've seen several that were marked as being tesla-only which I know for a fact isn't the case.

Ding! Ding! Ding!!!
FordPass will show a non-compatible SuperCharger, but it will tell you that it is not compatible. The Tesla app (assuming you set it up to be charging a Lightning), will not even show a non-compatible station. PlugShare will very obviously tell you if a SuperCharger is compatible. Never used ABRP...

PlugShare has a filter that says "Hide Tesla Only Locations". There is ZERO reason to look at them.

ABRP you setup with your vehicle and that you have an adapter, just like the Tesla app, and then you never see incompatible locations.

I wouldn't say zero reason. Plug share has had several here in NC that are marked Tesla only for a while now which is incorrect. What's interesting is that it did list at least this one as compatible but they changed it for some reason. Can pay to check the comments and/or the Tesla app itself. Below is just one instance

PlugShare is CROWD SOURCED. YOU are supposed to tell them it is wrong....

Buc-ee's, or any other parking lot or fuel station owner, does not determine Tesla units compatibility with 'Other EVs'... only Tesla does.

per Tesla App:

Buc-ee's
Fort Valley, GA

44 Superchargers Up to 325kW max
available to "Other EVs"

Yes, there may be mis-information, even from well-meaning folks, who really don't know.

ONLY the Tesla App is the true source.

Do I need to have a specific update to be able to charge at new V4 tesla superchargers? Twice it didn't work for me at different locations.
- 1st one was in Austin TX
- 2nd one was today at the Buccees in Texas City south of Houston.

In both cases the error message i get is there is a station fault! No matter what i do, change station it does not work at all. When i use ford pass to activate the station the app shows that it is activated but the truck does not get charged. What am I missing here?

Great point. OP can call A2Z EV technical support if they are experiencing this issue with one of the earlier Typhoon Pro adapters.

I have the updated version of the A2Z adapter. At least that is what I was told. How do I know if it is the case?
