I just tried using my 120v outlets for the first time while driving but didn't know there was an inhibit set when the outlet cover is open. Is there a way to use the 120v outlets in the bed while driving? I was trying to use a boot dryer while driving back to a hotel from a soccer game. The truck posted a message and would let me shift out of park.

2022 owners manual indicates that it's not possible to have the outlet cover open and move the shifter out of park, they mention a warning that will pop up that you can acknowledge but I don't know if that would override the shifter lock out.

You could use the in cabin outlet at the back of the center console, the air-conditioning and boot warmer working in concert would speed up boot drying.

You can use the frunk outlets just fine.

Yes, you get the warning, but click OK, and you can drive away. Did it for several days last week.

For the 4th of July fireworks show I crew on, I supply compressed air for some air tools. My setup is that I add two high powered 12 volt compressors feeding a 30 gallon tank. The compressors are powered from my Aux 12 volt system (two Group 24 deep cycle batteries in parallel) that is normally charged with a 15 amp battery charger that gets power from the rear seat 120V outlet. For the show setup I add a second 30 amp battery charger that gets powered from one of the bed outlets. I set this up a few days before the 4th so every time I turned the truck on, I got the warning that bed outlet cover is open. Click OK, and then I can shift into Drive. Also note that it then asks if I want the bed inverter turned on.

Re using the Frunk outlets with the Frunk closed:
...provided its less than 100w...
400 watts, not 100, but it does allow more than that with the frunk closed - I don't know the exact number, but I have pulled at least 500 watts.

I was under the impression they changed it relatively recently

I've had at least 500 watts on the front inverter while driving in the last week or so - the cabin outlets.

I'm a dumb dumb, thanks for that. That wasn't clear and I just assumed it wouldn't let me drive that way. Much appreciated for the response. This is why Lightning owners rock.

Place a small magnet just to the right of the bottom outlet. This will allow you to shift without that annoying alert.

... I've found that over the years of using our BED OUTLETS, whether the 120v or the 240v, while traveling, while in motion, and while using them to power our CAMPERS, while towing, the annoying alert requiring the 'O.K' button press, is simply a safety feature - as someone at Ford decided that one or more of us 'dummy' owners might drive away while something was still plugged into our outlets(something still on the ground!)... oh well.

It also changed the nature of our 'camping' experiences, allowing us to keep the Camper's fridge ON, the fans and devices powered, and even the overhead roof Air Conditioner available (thermostat ON), all while driving... it's a game changer when you land, park, get out and step into the camper, finding it COOL, and the food COLD!
It also means that 'having' to land at a full-hookup campground or campsite is no longer a major requirement. 'Camping' at the beach has also never been easier, or better: coming back to a cool place is major, or for a cold snack or drink.
