When I first learned to drive an automatic, I was taught to use the parking brake so as not to have the weight of the vehicle on the parking pawl. In some older cars this made it easier to shift from park. When I learned to drive stick, it was pretty much a requirement (even though I also put it into gear after shutting off the engine). Now it’s a force of habit, and this is a perfect example of why it’s a good one!

Anyone found their Vin included in the recall?

I have been checking and don’t see mine on the NTSHA site nor in the FORD App
it says in the release that VINs would be searchable at the end of January, so I wouldnt expect anyone to have this assigned to them yet.

Could be. The other recalls showed up on mine right at the time of the announcement so I thought this would also.

Let's be real. Updates, at some point, will be limited to fixing things that have to be fixed. NOTHING will be done to enhance the experience or provide new features, at some point.

2022s still cannot precondition on the way to a DC fast charger. Winter of 22/23, 23/24, 24/25, and now 25/26. Totally not a priority for them.
ha well it's not like they can reliably push updates now.

and I question whether 23's precondition either. Was 14F here Monday morning with max battery temp of 28F. Tried both Google Nav and native with a charger added about 40min away and didn't notice any extra coolant heater power or the temp mode change in car scanner when I got to work which is about 10min from the charger. Max temp was still 28F. Would be nice to know what the requirements are.

18.6 miles from a DC fast charger that you are NAVIGATING TO (i.e. the destination is a picture of that charger, not a flag). Use Google Maps or Ford Navigation. Has to be a non-Tesla fast charger.

hmm was an Ionna station listed in both native and google nav about 16 miles away. Will have to try an EA that's about 25 when it gets cold again.

My parking brake auto engages on the slightest grade and auto disengages when I shift to drive and press the accelerator. Is that now how everyone else's works?
Remember that the truck will roll on a FAR more gentle slope than the auto parking brake will engage. My driveway is a very slight down - and the truck will roll towards the street, but the auto parking brake needs to be on a steeper slope in order to auto engage.

My Parking Brake sometimes activates on my driveway which has just a very gentle incline, but only about 1 in 10 times. I cannot find the scenario that reliably has it auto-apply. Anyone with info?

Sounds like your driveway is right on the ragged edge of triggering the auto parking brake. My driveway is a very slight angle and it does not set the brake, but many times on steeper slopes it does. Never made any effort to determine the angle.

This is interesting. I had a situation a few weeks ago where the Truck did not shift into park after opening the car door (which it always does) and it rolled forward into my gate. At first I felt stupid about it. Then I started thinking how I did nothing different, my habit has become to stop, pop open door and watch truck auto shift to park. Well it didnt happen. I then tried to replicate it and it again did not auto shift. Next day it was back to normal functioning. Had a buddy tell me to go to Ford and tell them about that as he felt it was a major safety problem and that a feature like that malfunctioning is a major issue. Now I read this...

I remember this. Driving stick for most of my formative years, I always put the shifter in gear and used the parking break. After going to automatic, I thought the "park" was just that...a parking break, never used the manual one on a level spot because I'm stubborn. If there was ever any slope in either direction, apply parking break just in case. (Don't forget the front wheel trick )

Sparky has usually been pretty good for me in detecting a slope when in park and applying the break automatically. I guess I'll start using it more due to this; plus it does have a very cool sci-fi sound when it turns on!

I’ll take a Powertrain update please! PPO with the truck off here I come!
Depending on where you are update wise you can turn that on in forscan. I did on my 23. Works great.

I’m behind on powertrain updates. Last one I received was in 2024. Not the newer ones that enable it.
