Bad weather mileage - 1.5mi/kWh

Drove home from Las Vegas Airport back to Hurricane, UT on Saturday night. This is a trip I do fairly often (I charge to 80% at a nearby Tesla SC before my flight so I can drive straight home since I can't make a round trip on one charge). Typically I average 1.8mi/kWh @ 75mph on this trip and have gotten as good as 1.9. It was raining like crazy, about 55* and windy. Left the airport at 78% and barely made it home at 5% with an average of 1.5mi/kWh. Glad that's not typical range!

I did first half of drive, but slowed to 70ish 2nd half due to rain being pretty crazy.

Rain also has a big impact on efficiency. It really increases rolling resistance.

Yeah this was my first drive in severe rain in the Lightning, and I think that impacted efficiency more so than the wind did.

Noticed you grew more conservative with the cruise pre-set lowered to 64

Try a 20mph headwind and you'll really see a big drop.

Yeah the last section of highway before home is 55mph speed limit. The interstate is 75 and 80mph speed limit.

Mine was getting 3.1 on my commute to work every day at the end of summer. Now it gets 2.0 on the exact same trip if I'm lucky. A 35% hit due to a 40F drop in temp is wild. Winter is going to SUCK. Might have to drive my Jeep instead.

Set a departure time for your morning commute and it won't be as mch of a hit, if any.

Yeah that sucks! Thankfully it doesn't get that cold here in the desert. My battery temp was about 70* on this trip.

I've seen as low as 1.2 mi/kwh running 70mph into a 30mph headwind.

I would happily give up some of what I feel is aggressive battery-degradation management if it meant getting more real-world range.....
