In the last week or so, I started getting this occasional ding ding for seemingly no reason. I think it's the same I would get with critically low washer fluid. There is no indication on the dash. No messages. Just a ding ding out of the blue for 🤷.

Any ideas?

Do you have alerts on in Ford's nav? If so, it will ding when it anticipates traffic in a presumed route. If you previously had them off maybe the setting reverted to on?

Edit: here's the thread that came to mind.
That reminds me I need to check mine. It randomly told me there was a 15min delay when I got in the truck this morning. Had turned it off but thinking one of the recent updates changed it back.

Yeah mine started randomly doing that too. I turned it off. I bet this ding is a maps ding too. I use Waze on android auto but maps still runs in the background.

Sometimes I won't have a destination in put, it's just connected as I hop in and then after a few minutes it dings and tells me there is a 15 minute delay on my route.... I don't have a route and there was no delay on my trip home (only 20 minutes trip anyway)

It does the same for me (I use Apple Maps). I think Ford's nav learns from frequent routes and will automatically notify you of anticipated traffic regardless of if it's being used or not. There's a setting to turn it off but I've never done so. If you quickly flip to the built-in nav when after it dings you'll catch the alert message. It doesn't persist though.

I hear the dings when using driver assist or BlueCruise, and they indicate that either one has temporarily stopped working. I’ve noticed it happens along very curvey two lane roads, when going through toll lanes on an interstate, or when the interstate goes from two lanes to five. Once I get past that section of road driver assist/BlueCruise resumes working again.

I am convinced the truck just gets bored and send out a "beep" or a "ding" every now and then for entertainment.

Couple days ago, Ford Nav spontaneously started a route which I had never selected, I haven't used a planned route for a few months. I need to look at those settings again, maybe the most recent OTA changed my preferences?????

That happened to me too recently. It started a route to my house (I wasn't at home). I hadn't set a route in the Ford nav in months. I use Apple Maps.

I have also a few times gotten the "ding ding." It's a traffic or road incident alert. The truck had turned the alerts on by itself even though I had turned it off.

Maybe the last OTA update added the new "HAL" feature. 😉

Try asking it "Open the pod bay doors, HAL" and see if it responds, "I'm sorry, Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that"

Yes, I also get the truck alert ding with no message or nothing. It usually happens within a couple minutes of when I start driving.

Another Ford NAV feature is an alert beep when you approach a school zone. I actually leave that turned on - it is a good safety reminder.
I do too and traffic law enforcement cameras as well.
