Nothing added in La. Yet.
This year, supposed to be $110 per year and prorated to purchase when filing your taxes.

Edit: When they first announced it I think it was supposed to be $200, if the money actually goes toward roadworks I'm actually ok with it, especially $110. I did the math when they were first talking about it, at $200 it worked out to a lil less than state gasoline taxes for the average driver, I consider it pretty fair.

Edit 2: Didn't own an EV until this year but apparently the fee has been in effect since Jan 1, 2023.

Just be glad you don't pay the Vehicle License Tax in AZ. I'll finally be under $1000 to register this coming Feb.
in MA we get a yearly Excise Tax based on the value of your vehicle, for road improvements, and I'm sure that is where it really goes lol Mine will be around $1000 this year for my 2025 Lariat. But my 1970 Olds is only $10

That sounds very much like ours. AZ reduces the amount we owe each year so the older the vehicle the cheaper it is to register. Good think I love this truck. At 10 years it'll be down to $230 and at 20 years it'll only be $40.

Yes that is a hot topic, here is a recent discussion.

Its best to remember how much cheaper "fuel" you get while charging at home ... :)
I live in Indiana too. It wouldn’t be so bad if they actually spent money improving and maintaining the roads. Indiana has the worst roads in the country and their snow removal is abysmal by comparison. I drove from northern Michigan on Sunday where they had twice as much snow. Drove 75 mph until I hit the Indiana line, then median was littered with vehicles and the speeds dropped to 50ish because of the ice and snow that had not been removed. I don’t mind paying taxes for public goods, but in Indiana the super majority has corrupted the system and the money all goes to cronies through various deals for “economic development.”

Yeah, so, I drove from PA to Wisconsin this past summer, I couldn't believe the shoddy state of route 90 through Indiana. The only time I ever was glad to be entering Ohio in my life was on the way back.

That’s the highway Mitch Daniels sold so he could build more roads for the state not to maintain.

Our tax is our electricity rates 💰
It's in EVERYONE's delivery services schedule including folks who don't drive EV's
This is my Garage service, the majority of energy is for the Lightning.

In Mass when using commercial charging services, add a sales tax of 6.25%, but I rarely charge with DCFC.

Neither of those is EV-specific, it's the same if you have a $60,000 ice vehicle, right? Many states have EV-specific additional fees.

Everyone complains about the roads. Facts are that Indiana is among the better roads in the country... Some ranks show it #1, i.e. best...

As mentioned Ohio has something similar.

Weirdly enough my truck was not tracked as an EV so I paid the "normal" rate. I mentioned this and they handed me a paper form to fill out and send to the state to notify them of the error so that i could pay them the extra $200.

I sure do hope that form didnt get lost in the mail...

I think it can be a fair tax, comparatively to 'road taxes' at gas stations, but, unfortunately, we don't:

A) get the ability to 'pay as you drive', like gas vehicles: we have to pay it ALL AT ONCE

and
B) get the ability to be charged by the mile, or gallon, per SE, since the legislature has designed a predetermined FIXED cost, for EVERY EV OWNER, no matter how little, or how much, you actually drive...

I've always said that while GEORGIA charges a fixed, and very exact, $210.87 EV 'road tax' fee, and it's not going to bankrupt any EV owner, it would make more sense, or 'cents', to actually add this 'fee' to all DC Fast Charging throughout the state, which would then pass the cost along to ALL EV drivers, from ALL states, which drive on 'our' roads... just like when they fill up with gas.
If you simply added a separate .05cents, or similar 'sales tax fee', to each KWH, you'd essentially come out with a similar statewide FUEL TAX income scenario... born by most ALL EV drivers.
This fixed charge also means that you are potentially paying more than gas vehicles per mile. GA Gas tax is 33.85 cent per gallon. The annual EV fee is the equivalent of buying 622 gallons of gas per year. At about 18 miles per gallon (what I was getting in my 2020 XLT) that's 11,212 miles per year. Personally I average at about 7,000 to 8,000 miles per year so I'm having to pay more tax per mile than a gas vehicle. This annual fee is also tied to inflation so will increase each year.

GA is also working on a bill to tax public electric charging stations too so we'll be double taxed: https://www.ledger-enquirer.com/news/politics-government/article288504542.html

GA is very much not an EV friendly state. Does not make me want to switch back to gas though...

Looks like self-reported data by the states. Indiana probably follows the old Soviet model. “Just make it look good.”

I live in Indiana and just got my new license plates for my lightning. Indiana charges a $230 EV supplemental tax because EV owners do not pay fuel tax at the pump…. Is that common tax for other states as well?
yes.
But Virginia has a Mileage Choice program which bases the charge on actual mileage rather than a set fee. That saves an EV or hybrid driver money if they don't drive the predicted miles ICE vehicles drive - I believe it is about 11,590 miles for an EV.

Other states have the same program and may use a different mileage calculation) from a search - I thought there were more states?):

Hawaii, Oregon, Utah, and Virginia are the states currently operating a per-mile road usage fee program for EVs, although the programs differ in implementation and structure. While other states have various EV-specific fees, these four have established a system where drivers can pay based on miles driven instead of the traditional gas tax

This may be more accurate and useful than the search result above:

https://taxfoundation.org/data/all/state/electric-vehicle-ev-taxes/

My Virginia 2025 rates: For my 2012 Leaf a full charge would be $116.49 per year (about 1 cent per mile); for the Lightning $128.14 (about 1.1 cents per mile); and for our Prius Hybrid $67.40 (about 1/2 cent per mile).

If you reach the full $ charge cap, you are not charged more $.

They give you an OBD plug-in that tracks the miles and then once a year you submit a pic of your odometer to adjust for GPS differences (due to road grade).

You put in a deposit amount for each car, and they deduct the per/mile drive cost on a monthly basis from the deposit. When your deposit balance reaches a particular amount, they charge your CC to top it off.

It works fairly well, they had a few software glitches in the beginning, but none lately.

You might see if your state has a program like that, but if not, call your rep. and nag them for one!

Fellow Hoosier here, with 3 EVs, so 3 x $230. Total registration cost for all 3 was $1819.05 this year. The one that stings the most is the $426.35 for my 16-year-old Roadster that gets driven maybe a couple thousand miles per year.
