I have my FCSP on a 100 amp circuit and set to max 80A. I experience a loud humming at times when the truck is charging, especially because my electrical panel is directly on the other side of the wall from my bed and the conduit runs along the outside wall to the front of the house. I have not tried reducing the charge rate in the Fordpass quite yet to see if that reduces the noise but has anyone else experienced this?

I realize that reducing the charge rate will obviously extend the amount of time required to charge to 80% but since it charges at midnight it's not like I need it to charge fully in 2 hours anyway.
Reducing the rate will reduce the hum a little.

If it's consistently around the 3.4kW rate, looks like it's either on a 20A circuit or the setting in the FCSP is set for a 20A circuit.

1. Check the breaker that the FCSP is hardwired to
2. Check the FCSP setting and make sure it's set to the preferred setting matching your breaker. The unit will automatically take into account the 20% derate per code
3. Your profile doesn't specify what model year (MY) Lightning you have. Anything newer than 2024 maxes out at 60A as it was reduced to one charge inverter. MY2022-2023 have dual charging inverters and can take advantage of the full 80A.

Well the charger would have no way of “knowing” what size breaker it’s connected to. That’s why the max setting dip switches on the board are for. But yes the OP does need to confirm what it’s connected to so that he knows.

What is the firmware version of the FCSP? There was a previous firmware version that some people (including me) had that resulted in a charge current of about 3.5 amps. A firmware update a couple months ago fixed the problem.

So I’m getting ready to install my ford pro charger. I will use 60 amp breaker and understand I will set the app to 48 recommended for that breaker. The charger will of course be hardwired. Using 6 -3 awg wire connected to 100 amp subpanel.

There’s a setting on the charger you set im
Assuming it may say in the directions but anyone know what setting I would set it on based on the info above ?
You absolutely MUST set the dip switch on the FCSP to match the breaker and wiring of your specific installation. You MAY set the the app to some lower level if you have a reason to.

I trust software and Internet connections for a lot of things but fire protection for my house is not one of them.

This thread is pinned to the top of the charging section, when it changes I'll create a new thread:

We experience that noise consistently. We can here it in the basement next to the breaker box as well as in our bedroom that is on the opposite side of the house since our bedroom is located one floor above the FCSP (which is mounted on the exterior wall of the garage).

Thanks All. A lot of good info from all the replies. To answer some questions that were asked.
1) The charger was installed by a licensed electrician and has 240 service and a two pole 100 breaker.
2) it’s in a detached garage so it was not connected to the internet initially but it is now.
3) The setting was set to 7 and the charger worked well for the first month before the problem began, where it would start out at a high rate then show an orange/yellow light on the end of the blue light bar and settle at the 3.4kwh rate.
4) I dialed the setting down to six but that had no effect.
5) My lighting is a 2022 Platinum which I received in December of ‘22.
6) I have a 48 amp charger at another location which gives me approximately 11kwh and a 30amp which charges at 6.7amps.
7) I had a lengthy call with Ford and they told me that the charger needed an update that they were working on, but couldn’t give me a date for implementation.
Other than the 80amp charger, I love the truck.

We're you able to update the firmware when you connected it to the internet? What firmware version are you on?

The yellow on the blue bar means that it's being derated. If the firmware update doesn't fix it, I would shut off all the power and retorque the connections at the fcsp and panel.

Now that you have it connected to the network, hopefully a couple of power cycles will fix the heat induced derating.

BTW, you can log onto the FCSP using the install / configuration app to review what the software & firmware versions are, make sure your mobile device is logged into your home network when you use the utility.

Unless you live in Massachusetts your 6-3 on a 60A breaker needs to be MC cable, not NM. #6 NM is only rated for 55A.

Correct that 6-3 NM aka Romex is only rated for 55 amps.

Alternate is to instal 6-6-8 CU SEU (Service Entrance Copper) that is rated for 65 amps That’s what my electrician did for 60 amp circuit.

Or 6AWG THHN in a conduit, such as either pvc, EMT, MC etc.

I’m only getting a charge rate of 3.4kw/hr with my 80 kw charger.
It clicks into the low rate almost immediately. Supposedly Ford has an auto update to fix it, but it been over a month. Is anyone else having this this problem, I’m better off using a dryer outlet.
Mine works great. I had an electrician to install it. I also had to upgrade the wire (not cheap) to operate it at the full 80 amps setting. I believe it was worth the upgrade.
