I got a free FCSP when I bought my 2023 Lightning ER, but it sat in a box in my garage for 2 years until we (finally!) bought our own house.

Electrician ran a dedicated 100 amp line and installed the FCSP the other day.

Now, the FCSP will slowly ramp up to 16.6 kW, only to crash a few seconds / minute after reaching the target level. I get an error message on FordPass that says "Charging Error - Please check your vehicle or charge station for details"

And then, a minute or so later, it restarts and slowly ramps up again to max charging power, until the cycle repeats itself.

When it crashes, there is a green LED on the right side of the display. The QR card that came with the unit does not describe what that means. WHen it is ramping up again, it gives the blue slow blink that is normal charging.

Anyone have any ideas? FWIW I can't link to the FCSP via WiFi either, I don't know if this is a separate issue or related - maybe (because it sat in a box for almost 2 years) this is an "old firmware" issue?

Because it crashes shortly after reaching 16.6 kW, I effectively have a 4-5 kW charger....

Thanks for any help you can give.

Is it hot outside or in garage while charging? If so, this is probably tied to the old firmware which needs updating, in the interim, lower the charge rate using the POT inside the unit to a slower #5 or #6 charging rate may help minimize the pausing issue.

Is there anything you can do to improve the wifi signal to the location of the FCSP?
Getting the updates would most likely resolve your situation.

The outside temp is only 75 degrees right now, it is still crashing.

As far as WiFi signal, I get 2-3 bars (out of 3) on my phone standing next to the charger, so I think it is getting enough signal strength.

As I read the instructions, setup involves connecting my phone directly to the FCSP so I can use the Charge Station App? But my phone never detects any WiFi signal coming from the FCSP...

The process of successfully binding to your home wifi network causes the SSID to no longer broadcast a visible ID, but if you were able to get it connected, then it would only be noticeable via your wifi network consol.

To use the configuration app afterward, you only need to have your cell phone itself active on your wifi network, that's how the configuration app is able to log onto the FCSP only via the hosting network, if you can do that, then you have made the bind properly.

If not, then a manual reset button will be needed, during that process it can take upwards or 30 minutes for the FCSP to be in a mode of operation where you'll repeat the binding & configuration steps.

When my FCSP was installed at the beginning of July there were some problems getting the WiFi for it to show up initially. The installers had to turn off the circuit breaker twice, and they did a hard reset with the button in the FCSP once.

After the second breaker attempt it took more than a couple minutes for the FCSP to start putting out a WiFi signal that showed up on our phones so that we could connect and then match up with the ChargeStationPro app (iPhones).

Move an access point closer to set up the fcsp. 2 or 3 bars on your phone probably isn't enough.

Yes on the firmware…updates made mine much more stable and reliable in the initial months. Also, when trying to bind to the FCSP WiFi for setup, I found I HAD to temporarily turn off cellular data on my phone before it would connect and complete the setup. This is also true for the two other times I’ve reset the unit and started from scratch. I have an android phone.
