2025 Lightning Lariat
I'm in week 2 of my F-150 Lightning purchase now, and super happy with almost everything. I got the Lariat Extended Range at just under the $80,000 cut off hoping to sneak in before the rebates went away. However, it turns out the ER's are no longer fully made in America, and some don't qualify. But Ford gave me the discount instead and my dealership is making it right by giving me a little extra off the top. So, I'm happy there.

The kicker though is I was expecting to get the Pro 80A charger with this truck. Everyone said that's what I would get. I've been thinking about one day getting the HIS to go with it, and some solar, but not right away. Out of nowhere, I get an email saying "Use this code for your free charger." I try it out and it only works with the 48A charger, not the Pro.

When I called in about it, the lady said that in the past couple of days, Ford has quit sending the 80A and only sends the 48A now. But I bought my truck a full week before that change! Nothing she could do.

My dealership is working it, trying to get the proper charger for me. But I thought that maybe a little public post might help sway Ford to ship me the charger I was told I'd receive. Loving everything about the truck, but these bumps along the road in the sales process are pretty frustrating.

If your truck is a 2025 the 80 amp will only charge at 48amp regardless. Stupid ford cutting corners

Sorry, but you're expecting too much here. Ford is supplying a charger - for free - that will charge your truck as fast as it can charge. That is absolutely the "proper charger" for your 2025. If you want an 80 amp charger, there are plenty on the market.

IMO, you're better off with a 3rd party EVSE since, AFAIK, the Ford EVSE has a CCS connector rather than a standard J1772 or NACS connector (unless it's changed for 2025+). Makes for a bad time if you end up replacing or adding to your EV fleet. Only reason you'd want theirs is if you want to go with the whole Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) set up but nothing but issues with them too from what I see.

It's really more about the option for the Home Integration System. That only works with the Pro charger. I've read a bit on here any other places, and it appears to be a rocky situation currently, but I'm hoping that gets better and I could add it in later.

According to Ford, Offer Dates 04/03/25 - 07/07/25 for the pro charger. I bought my Flash June 19th, they game me the coupon for the 80a charger.

You can find pro chargers on eBay or Facebook marketplace for about $400-$500 if you really want one. But the home integration setup a total cluster %#!@ from what I’ve read and seen. So you might be better off waiting for other bidirectional chargers to come to market.

Careful what you wish for. The HIS has been an absolute cluster as evidenced by the treads here talking about surging Ford over its failures.

I would encourage you to search for that information here before putting too much effort into going that direction.

Welcome to the forum, please use the search function, do some research about the extensive difficulties many members with the Home Integration Systems have had, you might not want to go down that path until Ford & Siemens have fully resolved the problems, other members are 3+ years waiting for a solution.

Take the CCS coupon, acquire it then resell on the market, then take the cash and find plenty of FCSP also on the market for the additional cost.

Did you get the $1200 9.6 kW ProPower option? It's not included on most new Lariats since it may put it over the 80K limit.

If you did get it, many folks use it for the home backup instead of HIS.

If you didn't get it, yeah, you need to go the HIS route if you want any significant whole home backup.

I also have a 2025 Lariat. I use the free 80A FCSP to charge it, but my Lariat is capped at 48A (roughly 11 kWh) for home AC charging so the FCSP is not worth the hassle and expense of installation. I believe it's only the Pro and Flash versions of Lightning that can AC home charge up to 80A (as of 2024 MY). You're better off getting the 48A charger because that's what your Lariat is capped at for AC home charging. On the road, DC fast charging, I've seen upward of 160 kWh on my Lariat, insane amperage!

Mine is still in its original box. The cost to wire it in far exceeds just charging from my existing 50A outlet with the mobile charger. 35k miles and a few cracks later an ye olde trusty mobile charger still running as we speak.
