I had a passenger who spilt a cup of coffee into the front cup holders. Before we could grab tissues to soak it up, a significant amount drained down the hole under the rearmost cup holder. You know, the one where you also program another key fob if desired. Anyone know what's under there (other than now coffee)? The hole appears to be designed as a drain, and I'm certainly hoping they have accounted for liquid/water spillage into these.

Shining a light down there doesn't reveal much. I'm hoping it just eventually drains down over the top of the battery box or some other sealed component and onto the road?

There are wires down there. If memory serves the carpet goes all the way under the console. You might consider taking the cupholders out to inspect and clean. That's what I would do but I'm very particular. I'm guessing most people would call it good and forget about it. That's probably the right answer.

I'm surprised, I didn't think there was a hole at the bottom. There is a lift up rubber piece that lets you get to the fob location, but a hole at the bottom, hmm...

Feels to me that if there's a drain... a drain hose should be routing said fluids out of the cabin under the vehicle, not into a concealed area.

I'd be pulling my console apart if I was OP (so my truck doesn't have a latte air freshener smell for the remainder of its life on hot days)

Here's a picture of the hole.

Thanks for the link to the other thread. Looks like I may be able to access under there more easily than I thought. Thankfully, just black coffee. But as others have stated, I'll still get in there to clean up. I was hoping someone was going to tell me there is a drain there.

I'm thinking about putting a dab of silicon over that hole!

There is no drain. There is carpet and wiring harnesses. I don't have a picture of the carpet.

Before you use silicone, I’d recommend some waterproof tape. If you know a carpenter, grab a little Zip tape from him or her. Then if you ever need to use the hole, you could probably just stick the key through it!
