I rarely use DCFC, but I agree the folks you meet are generally friendly and open to discuss BEV ownership. I've met other MMe owners and those who have Teslas, KIAs, Polestars and earlier today a Rivian R1S and a Lucid Air. First question is always - "So How Do You Like Yours" then on to "How's The Performance?". After all, you are usually at the station at least 30 minutes. ? I haven't gotten my Lightning yet, but I've also met a Lightning (Lariat) and an E-Transit.

Last evening I dropped my son off at his friend’s house, who lives about an hour away. So I had to wait around instead of driving back and forth, and decided to pop over to a nearby DCFC. After I was done charging, I moved to another spot in the parking lot and dove into some emails and forums. A few minutes later, a passenger in the car near me rolls down their window and starts waving and lightly tapping their horn.

I was thinking “oh jeez, what’s this craziness going to be about” as this area is quite built up with tons of restaurants and entertainment venues, with lots of people coming and going. I just wanted some piece and quiet. Turns out to be a couple of guys in an Ionic 5, and they started asking me about my Lightning. Nice guys, we had a decent conversation about EVs, chargers, charging experiences, etc. They were totally blown away by the “full size” of the Lightning. They had thought maybe it was some sort of smaller F150, and were quite impressed that it really is a full sized F150. They kept commenting on how nice it was. I agreed!! ?

The Lightning’s are a rare sight around here, and it was interesting and unexpected to have this interaction!

I should also say that it was fun to roll down my window and look down at them, the height difference was quite apparent!

One thing I get a lot is "how much does one of these cost?" I haven't found a good response as everyone is quite repulsed by the 80k+ figure.

Yep. That's the second most common question I get. I just tell them "they range from the high 40s to high 90s, not including any tax credits". I don't tell them the cost of my specific truck.

Okay. I just have to come
Out and say it. Why does EVERY WV id4 and EVERY KIA/Hyundai think they need to charge to 100% ever freaking time they are at a DCFC station!?!?!?!?
Because that’ll get them just about to the next charging station?

ID4 comes with 2 or 3 years of free EA charging if I remember correctly.
free changing is nice when you benefit, but it’s really a bad thing. It gets abused.

Only free for the first 30 minutes to avoid this exact situation.
