Lane keeping and bluecruise absurdly annoying. Can’t drive with it.

I took my first trip with my Lightning and both Lane Keeping and Bluecruise are so ******** sensitive. If I look at the windshield cockeyed the thing ******* yells at me. I will be staring straight and it yells at me for not looking straight. Kinda ruins the experience and want to just take it off and drive without getting yelled at by both my car and wife.

I’ve turned down driver sensitively in driver assistance setting. I want to take a video of this because of how bad it is. It probably alerts me at least 15 times an hour. Anyone have this experience and found any sort of solution? Def make me not want to renew bluecruise.

As someone that has used BC for thousands of miles, I suspect that this is due to your lack of familiarity with it. There are sensors to the left of the big screen and on the left A pillar. Don't block them.

By chance, do you hold the top of the steering wheel, like 11--12--1 o'clock positions?

Sometimes I do, often blocking the IR sensor located at the mid-dash to the left of the Sync screen, the old girl will begin nagging me within 5 seconds until I move the hands/arms lower down the arch of the steering wheel.

If not, then maybe your Lightning has an issue with the sensor.

This experience doesn't sound like anything I've experienced. The only times it tells me to look at the road are when I take a drink from a large cup or can and when I should be looking at the road.

Sometimes I do but most of the time I hold at like 6 and 9 if on lane keeping and blue cruise my hands are just to the side.

On a related note, I enjoy the full hands-free BlueCruise, but find the regular lane-assist annoying. I wish there was an indicator on the dash to let you know if you are on a road that supports hands-free.

You are not alone, I had full BC in my 2021 Mach-E and it was down right annoying. Like others say you can adapt, but I would never pay for it either. Luckily I love the regular adaptive cruise in my XLT better.

I’ve used my BC for a few hundred miles and it has only nagged me when I was actively not looking at the road. It doesn’t even nag when I look around for a few seconds.

My truck is quick to nag me…but honestly…only when it’s appropriate. I much prefer the eye sensors over the constant tapping of the steering wheel in most other vehicles with various levels of ADAS.
I’ll go miles without ever having to touch the wheel…but even a relatively short look at the center screen or a drink…and it’ll nag me. Wish it wasn’t quite as sensitive…but I understand why it is. I just wish BC was available on more sections of roads…Hwy 101 near me is a constant mix of divided freeway and non freeway, abs BC will turn off on the “non-freeway” sections.

I agree with most of the comments that BC, does in fact work well (as deployed so far).
However, my complaint is with the Hold Steering Wheel alert. I will be holding the steering and still get "yelled at". I realize that my grip is gentle and I tend to hold the wheel dead-steady, so the damn computer thinks I'm jerking off or some such thing (when truly, that's only about half the time).
Seriously, there should be a better way to sense the hands on the wheel.

The trick is not just holding the wheel. It's not looking for placement of hands on the wheel, but tension on turning. If you just nudge the wheel ever so lightly to right or left is what its looking for.

I have used it for 8 months and absolutely love it. With one key exception. That’s the 5sec timeout. Even in my Maverick, which not hands free, I could take my hands off the wheel and look away for 10 secs.

@Ford Motor Company should be consistent and to me 10 secs was optimal. Enough time to adjust the radio, check the driving instruments, check the navigation map, or take a sip of coffee or cola without being badgered.

Tug it just a little when the warning pops up.
