Got text from neighbor that lights were on, checked camera and sure enough at exactly 6pm cst, the headlights turned on. There is no departure time set and nobody was home.

Anyone else having this type of strange behavior? Also had the truck charge to 100% without telling it to charge to 100% the other day.

Seems there is a ghost in the machine…

Not sure about the Lightning but my old Tesla would definitely turn the lights on during an OTA update.

Do you have phone as a key (PAAK)? And if so, is there another phone paired to the truck (spouse) that is at home? The phone passing near the truck (50ft or less) will also trigger the lights to come on.

...or another fob moving within a dozen feet, maybe inside the house.

Most recent update removed my home charging location, along with charging % limit and preferred charge times (start, stop). Subsequently, plugging in immediately started charging to 100%. Many others with same issue. Had to turn truck on/off, complete a charge cycle, and then re-add home location, charge times, charge limit.

Ya, it's the update that wiped all the settings. You'll have to go and re enter the information. Pita, but it's my first time in 3 years having to do it.

The rotary headlight switch on our trucks has been known to go bad. Mine glitches every once in awhile. I did have it turn the headlights on (change itself from "auto" to "on") by itself, but I think I was driving at the time.

Take a look at the headlight switch. It has LEDs to indicate which mode it's set to. If the truck is on but none of the LEDs are on, that's a sign of a bad switch. I rotated the switch and the indicator lights started working again and it went back into "auto."

Sometimes on the instrument panel display the brightness window will pop up, and I think it's the headlight switch (that has the controls for dash brightness) glitching and thinking I pressed a button on it.

There is a service bulletin for the switch on the Mach-Es. Not one on the Lightning even though the switch is the same/similar. I think it's used on other Ford vehicles as well.

Exactly this.

The recall for switch replacement in the Mach-E was carried out starting in November of 2022. Supposedly, Lightnings got the “improved“ switch from the beginning. But even the new ones can fail. And the failure symptoms are intermittent. The switch is not that expensive and is easy the replace.
