Had a BlackVue DR750X-3CH Plus professionally installed today with a Power Magic Ultra Battery and LTE add-on.

The battery charges up when the truck is on, and powers parking mode when it's off.

With all the problems I've seen people have with the 12v battery, I didn't want to hardwire anything to it.

Can you recount some issues others have reported with the 12v battery?

I'm aware that many SW updates fail and information points to a 12v battery that doesn't have a full SOC, but I've not heard of any issues tapping into it otherwise. I've got a dash cam tapped into the footwell fuse box and a full aftermarket 1100 watt sound system connected to the battery. No issues so far.

I'm glad you haven't had any issues! Certainly the SW update problems because of 12v battery levels are one of the reasons, but it I recall some having issues when drawing from the battery when the truck is off. I just decided to play it safe and only draw from the battery when the truck was on. It was a few extra hundred dollars for that battery pack, but I don't have to worry about power draw anymore.

Thanks for the reply, I just want to make sure we clarify the facts. I truly don't know that I've heard of any reported issues due to someone tapping a fuse or adding some aftermarket product tapped into the battery.

Make no mistake, the SW update failures and 12v SOC and battery issues are 100% created by and need to be fixed by Ford.

I silenced the backup speaker today. Saw a post on MachE forum on how to do it, but Lightning is a bit different....

It is very simple tho...
The speaker is just behind the front bumper on the pass side frame rail. I took it off and out, but there is no need to do that... The MachE speaker can be disassembled and resistor added inside, but not the lightning (unless u want to solder) So removal/disassembly gets you nowhere....

So, just lay under truck
unplug the speaker and add
A resistor into the harness connector (5watt 4R7 4.7ohm off Amazon).

I bent the resistor wires as shown and inserted into end of the wire connector, it fits tight, sealed it with dielectric grease and taped it up. I realize there is a more elegant way to do this, but as an experiment it works great and only takes a couple minutes.

I sent a message when I ordered requesting this color, this color is supposedly "Patina Black", I also requested Black hardware. The quality is awesome, I wish the button and logo area were a little more grey but that's a minor complaint. Easy to feel button placement while in pocket still.

Only downside is slow shipping. Shipping was free after I added the pointless $1.99 installation instructions to my order (met order minimum threshold for free shipping).

Why wouldn't you just take the speaker out? Asking before I order the resistor.

I'm not exactly sure but I would guess that it would leave an open circuit and cause a fault to show up on the display. I'm sure someone who knows for sure will chime in soon.

My truck was an abandoned order that I bought. It came with this and I haven't installed it. I'm not quite sure I have a use case. I feel like it would just add an extra step to getting to my napkins. I guess I just don't have important things in my truck.

That's the primary purpose. It's never a good idea to *store* a firearm in a vehicle, but sometimes it's unavoidable (like going to a federal building). It's better to have some security over no security.

Even for a person that doesn't carry, there are use cases.

Camping is our biggest use. We like to go camping as a family, having a place to secure valuables (past just locking them in a truck) brings some piece of mind as we roam. This will be our camping rig.

Other uses are typically so I can leave my valuables behind as I hate overfilling pockets (dog park, kids sports events...etc). I don't always do that, but the option is always nice.
